HAWKESBURY

BEST BET

Race 2 No. 8: Kind Words

The Kris Lees-trained filly closed strongly after a slow start first-up then not much went right in Listed company last start. Was runner-up to Tropical Squall on debut.

NEXT BEST

Race 2 No. 8: Rhesus

The son of Lonhro has been okay in placings second at both runs back from a spell and this looks suited stepping up in distance.

VALUE BET

Race 6 No. 5: Steely

Didn’t appreciate the shifting track last start bit won well at Eagle Farm before that. Won both starts here and looks a good chance to win again.

INSIDE MAIL - HAWKESBURY

RACE 1

Magnatear lost his rider on debut so we will never know how he would have performed but after a let-up and a trial win, he ran a handy third to Emphatic Bel at Wyong on June 15. Recent trials have also been good on a win at Gosford on Oct 11. Zahdi has one second place in six starts but has raced against handy types. Drops back in trip and she did run second to Jedibeel at this track and distance on debut. Last Ditch Effort wasn’t far away behind Killawarra Lass over 900m at Albury first-up. Better suited stepping in trip here where he has placed three from four.

Bet: Magnatear to win

RACE 2

Rhesus resumed as a gelding with a fair second behind Dark Halo over 1100m at Wyong on Sept 28 before a second to Written Silk over 1200m at Kembla. Should appreciate stepping up to 1400m and ready to peak third-up. Jared has been consistent and his maiden win isn’t far away. Got home well for third to the in-form Gustosisimo over 1100m here and followed with a third to Hard Pick over 1300m before dropping back in trip when fifth at Gosford last start. Goes to 1400m for the first time and will be strong late. Big Bay Wolf will be improved by his debut third behind Written Silk at Kembla over 1200m.

Bet: Rhesus to win

RACE 3

Iverson made a three-wide move from the 700m and loomed up but couldn’t hold out the fast finishing The Seven Seas at Newcastle on 10. The form out of that race has been good with Iverson beating Oct Belleistic Kids who has since finish third at Randwick on Tuesday while Syzygy Stars (fourth) and Mycah Leon (fifth) has also won since. Drawn well. Eyeque finished close seconds in consecutive starts at Newcastle before a two length seventh behind Russley Crown in the Jungle Juice Cup when held up until last 100m. Desi Emperor led all-the-way to beat The Englishman at Kembla last start and will give another bold sight.

Bet: Iverson to win

RACE 4

Forget the run of Kind Words last when she beat just one home behind Arctic Glamour in the Listed Reginald Allen at Randwick on Oct 14. She was held up behind the leader turning for home and never got out. She took a step back at the start and came out a clear last before running on strongly for fourth at Newcastle first-up. Drift Net was held up rounding the bend as Candlelit skipped away to a big lead two runs back before a safely held second to Influential at Kembla last start. Electric Tigress was fourth to Smart Legend on debut at Kembla and went to Eagle Farm 11 days layer when fifth to Azula in the Listed The Phoenix before a spell.

Bet: Kind Words to win

RACE 5

Celestial Fury stepped up to a Midway at Randwick on Sept 30 and raced in limited room in the straight when ninth to Loving Cilla. Led before finishing a three-quarter length second to Rise To It here on Oct 19. Meets him 2kg better and drawn the pole. Can turn the tables. Rise To It is shooting for a hat-trick after beating Owari here on Sept 21 before his win over Celestial Fury four weeks later. Domingo stepped up to 2100m for the first time this campaign when runner-up to the in-form Fine Example who made it three in-a-row at Gosford on Oct 26.

Bet: Celestial Fury to win

RACE 6

Steely is much better than his last run when down the track behind King Of The Castle in the Big Dance Wild Card at Randwick on Oct 21. He won well at Eagle Farm before that and can bounce back. Is unbeaten in two runs at the track and drops to 54.5kg. Skyman boxed on well for a long neck third behind Zeyrek and Renaissance Woman in the Group 3 Craven Plate at Randwick on Oct 28. Drops in distance but drawn well and has won his only run this track. The Seven Seas takes a big step up in grade but she is racing in terrific form. Big win at Newcastle two starts back before a second to Hid Your Heart on the Kensington last start.

Bet: Steely each-way

RACE 7

Kirikan is better than his eighth behind Juriprudence as a $2.40 favourite at Gosford on Oct 26. He race midfield along the rails and was held up rounding the bend when he needed to build momentum. Sat back and wide and loomed up on straightening but couldn’t match Kaizad in the run to the line. Kaizad has come out and won the Gr3 Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington last Saturday. Wild Calm has been closing off well to place at her last three starts including a long head second to Juriprudence at Gosford on Oct 26. Divazino made ground from well back when resuming on a heavy at Kembla on Oct 28. Raced well here previously when second back in June.

Bet: Kirikan to win
