It has been a torrid run for former Brisbane Broncos coach Kevin Walters and club legend Allan “Alfie” Langer, but they could have something to sing about come Saturday afternoon as their filly looks to break through in town.

The Tony Gollan-trained Six More Songs resumed in winning style at Ipswich last month, which was just hours before he was ultimately let go by the Broncos in what was a turbulent upheaval of the club, which is reported to have Langer considering his future at the club as well.

The filly was purchased by staunch Broncos supporters Troy Harry and Winx’s owner Peter Tighe and has a number of Broncos identities in the ownership, including Walters and Langer.

Gollan, who played rugby league at a high level himself, has close ties to the ownership group and said he is hoping to give them something to cheer at Eagle Farm on Saturday when she lines up in the QTIS 3YO Handicap (1000m).

“Troy Harry bought her and he is a mad Broncos man,” Gollan said.

“I do know Kevvie and Alfie, but I didn’t get them into it, Troy Harry was keen to syndicate it through his mates.

“Hopefully I can give them a reason to smile.

“She has a lovely pedigree and I reckon she will be a really nice filly.”

Langer famously chanted “six more songs” as he led Queensland’s State of Origin celebrations last year at the Caxton Hotel, which went viral on social media, which inspired the naming of the filly.

Gollan is bullish about tackling the hot favourite Street Chase in the 1000m scamper, saying the market has forgotten Six More Songs.

“It was a touch short for her at Ipswich first up,” Gollan said.

“But she did a good job considering how short it was, she was really good through the line and the 1000m or 1200m will suit her a lot better.

“The favourite is so short in the market, it has blown other horses price’s out.

“I feel she is a better chance than what the odds suggest.”

Six More Songs is an $18 chance with TAB.
