Melbourne Cup favourite Vauban has been backed to win more than $3 million at the Call Of The Card.

Vauban has been backed to win more than $3 million at the famous Melbourne Cup Call Of The Card at Crown Casino.

The bets included $320,000 split between $5 and $4.80, $230,000 at $4.80 and $200,000 at $5.

Two bets of $50,000 at $5 were taken on the Willie Mullins star, as well as bets of $25,000, $20,000 and $10,000.

He firmed into $4.80 across the board.

Absurde, the stablemate of favourite Vauban, has been backed to win $2 million, including $20,000 each-way at $12. Bartholomew also backed it to win $500,000.

Pointsbet CEO Sam Swannell wanted $30,000 on Absurde but bookie Lyndon Cleary only took $10,000.

French mare Lastotchka — the only mare in the Cup — was backed to win $1.5 million.

The mare was the subject of some heavy bets, shortening her quote from $26 to $21.

She was backed to win $200,000 by Tom Waterhouse at $26 while another punter had $10,000 on at $26.

She was also backed to win $500,000 with Warren Woodcock and to win $250,000 with Lyndon Cleary, and to win $250,000 with James Filgate by Kingsley Bartholomew.

Reigning champion Gold Trip firmed from $8.50 into $8 with one bet of $25,000 to collect $212,500.

There were multiple $1000 bets on the Maher-Eustace runner, who will carry 58.5kg in the Cup with James McDonald to ride.

Caulfield Cup winner Without A Fight was backed three times to win $200,000 (Steve Bradley, Tom Waterhouse, cash) and to win $150,000 by Bartholomew.

Japanese raider Breakup was backed to win $350,000 by Bartholomew.

Bartholomew had $20,000 on Soulcombe at $11 while Tom Waterhouse backed the Chris Waller-trained galloper to win $300,000.

Robbie Waterhouse took a bet of $4000 at $251 on True Marvel to win $1 million, firming the Matt Smith-trained outsider to $201.

The 2019 Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare was well supported, including two $5000 bets at $31 (Tom Waterhouse and Bartholomew).

Right You Are was backed to win $300,000 by Tom Waterhouse at $61 while Bartholomew had $3000 to win at the same price, shortening it to $51.

Tom Waterhouse backed Archer Stakes winner Kalapour to win $400,000 at $51 while another punter had $500 to win at $51.

One punter has had $2500 each-way on Geelong Cup winner Interpretation at $101. Other bets were $1100 to win (Tom Waterhouse) and 2 x $1000 win bets.

Pro punter Kingsley Bartholomew had $5000 on Future History at $21 with another bet of $500 each-way.

Steve Bradley had $11,000 to win on Jamie Kah’s mount, More Felons, at $31 while another punter had $10,000 on Chris Waller’s import.

Rob Waterhouse held a bet of $1000 each-way on Virtuous Circle at $301 while another punter had $500 to win at $301, firming him into $251.

Swannell had $2000 on Serpentine at $51 while Tom Waterhouse backed the Lloyd Williams-owned galloper to win $200,000.

Tom Waterhouse backed his mum’s horse, Military Mission, to win $200,000 at $36 while another punter had $5000 on to collect $180,000.

Damien Oliver’s last ride Alenquer was subject to only one bet of $500 each-way at $91.

There was no interest in Chris Waller’s Magical Lagoon at $201.

No bets were taken on Sheraz at $201 while one punter backed Okita Soushi to win $10,000 at $101.

One punter had $1000 each-way on roughie Daqiansweet Junior at $126 while another punter hasd $500 each-way.

Ashrun has been backed to win $400,000 by Tom Waterhouse at $51 while Swannell had $1500 to win at $51, shortening the Maher-Eustace galloper into $41.

Tom Waterhouse backed Moonee Valley Cup winner, Cleveland, to win $200,000 at $51.

The Call Of The Card betting kicked off at 2pm.
