Stewards have fined Kyle Wilson-Taylor $1000, with $500 suspended, after the frustrated hoop punched a hole in the wall of the jockeys’ room at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Stewards have fined Kyle Wilson-Taylor $1000, with $500 suspended, after the frustrated hoop punched a hole in the wall of the jockeys’ room at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Wilson-Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge relating to rule AR 228(b) after leaving the stewards’ room for an inquiry following an incident in the final race of the day at Eagle Farm.
Passing the 300m mark, Wilson-Taylor caused interference to his fiancee Angela Jones’ mount, favourite Set To Shine, in the Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1400m.

Set To Shine was searching for a gap in the straight but was blocked by Wilson-Taylor’s mount Until Valhalla, which finished runner-up behind the Rob Heathcote-trained Northern Decree.
Wilson-Taylor was also “severely reprimanded” for careless riding for his role in causing interference to Set To Shine.
The Group 1-winning hoop later took out his frustrations in the jockeys’ room, punching a hole in the wall.
“Wilson-Taylor was fined $1000, with $500 suspended for two years, and directed by stewards to contact the Brisbane Racing Club to rectify the damaged caused,” the stewards’ report said.

It’s not the first time Wilson-Taylor has landed in hot water with stewards, albeit under more joyful circumstances, after he was fined $800 for saluting in the irons following his breakthrough Group 1 victory in the Tattersall’s Tiara in June 2023.
Wilson-Taylor won the opening race at Eagle Farm last Saturday on Love To Torque, who announced herself as a Group 1 JJ Atkins contender in the upcoming the Queensland winter carnival.
