Form analyst Gilbert Gardiner runs the rule over Thursday’s meeting at Wangaratta.

BEST BET

BROMEO (R1 No.3 – $2.80)

First-up after four-month break. Awkward draw but second in a recent Wangaratta trial. Placed twice in two starts earlier in the year. Gets chance to win.

NEXT BEST

TAX FREE PROPHET (R7 No.6 – $5)

Suited over a bit more ground after going down a length first-up at Traralgon. Best form on fast ground and has won second-up.

VALUE BETS

PAULULU (R2 No.8 – $9)

Caught the eye last start at Wangaratta coming from last to run third beaten 2½ lengths. Should be right in the finish third-up.

APSARA (R8 No.8 – $8.50)

Stepped slowly and raced greenly potentially on the wrong part of the track. Has placed second-up previously.

THE JOCKEY

HARRY COFFEY

MY PREDICTION (R1 No.2 – $19), PAULULU (R2 No.8 – $9), SOUTHERN FIRE (R3 No.14 – $5), MONDAY TOO SOON (R4 No.16 – $61), and ONIKA (R7 No.9 – $7)
