Herald Sun and Racenet form analyst Chris Vernuccio looks at The Valley meeting on Saturday.

BEST BET

WAIMARIE (R1 No.5 – $3.20)

Waimarie led throughout last time out at Sandown Hillside to post her second win in three starts. She maps to get a soft lead from barrier four which will make her tough to run down if The Valley is favouring on-pacers.

NEXT BEST

BIG ME (R6 No.12 – $3.60)

Ex-Hong Kong sprinter Big Me will take great benefit from his first Australian run when third down the Flemington straight. He has a lot more upside than his rivals but will need some luck from barrier two in a race with plenty of speed.

VALUE BET

KING MAGNUS (R7 No.3 – $6)

King Magnus was solid in his first attempt at 2000m, finishing less than two lengths behind Horrifying, who won again last week, on a heavy track. He’ll get a drier track which will enhance his chances.

THE JOCKEY

MARK ZAHRA

WAIMARIE (R1 No.5 – $3.20), LAST DRUID (R2 No.4 – $7.50), LINCOLN ROCKS (R3 No.5 – $3.80), DASHING DUCHESS (R4 No.7 – $5.50), MARGIE’S BOY (R8 No.3 – $6.50).
