Kinesiology nearly snuck into the Melbourne Cup field but he’s a potential prospect for next year. Chris Waller’s new addition brings strong overseas form, and imports and raiders have an excellent record in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He’s in the same ownership group as Soulcombe, who won this race in his first local start in 2022.

OVERPASS (R6 No.2 – $5)

Overpass would have gone close in The Everest had he made the field after winning the Sydney Stakes in slightly quicker time on the same day. He’s the fresh sprinter here being only second-up whereas his main rivals Giga Kick and Bella Nipotina are deep into their preps. The six-year-old has been remarkably consistent over the past two years and won down the Flemington straight in March 2022.

REY MAGNERIO (R4 No.4 – $4.80)

Ray Magnerio has placed in all three starts this prep, beaten by a combined margin of half a length. He’s backing up after a close second at the track and distance on Derby, and the start before he was an unlucky second behind Estriella, who runs in the Group 1 Champions Sprint later in the day.
