Herald Sun and Racenet form analyst Chris Vernuccio looks at the Bletchingly Stakes meeting at Caulfield on Saturday.
BEST BET
JIMMY THE BEAR (R8 No.2 – $3.10)
Jimmy The Bear is on the back-up after a dominant win in the Mildura Cup last start. He carried 60kg that day, so the 59.5kg here shouldn’t pull him up even though his key rivals are down in the weight. However, the five-year-old gelding will have a tactical advantage over the likes of Green Fly and Lounge Bar Rubi, and he’s won twice from three attempts at the track and distance.
NEXT BEST
DOM (R1 No.2 – $2.10)
Dom won by 5½ lengths on debut at Geelong over the 1400m which gives him an advantage over key rival I Am Velvet, who was originally going to run in the 1200m race.
PRINZERRO (R6 No.4 – $4.80)
Prinzerro has returned as a gelding with three close placings down the Flemington straight behind the likes of The Black Cloud and Right To Party. He is unplaced at Caulfield but this race is a big drop in grade compared to his two runs at the track last spring.
THE JOCKEY
DOM (R1 No.2 – $2.10), SHE SMASHES (R2 No.6 – $14), PHATS (R3 No.1 – $3.70), FERAGO (R4 No.2 – $3.60), SUNSET DREAMING (R5 No.4 – $6.50), WALLENDA (R6 No.5 – $5.50), RECOMMENDATION (R7 No.2 -$1.45).
