News Corp and Herald Sun form analyst Gilbert Gardiner looks at the Cranbourne meeting on Thursday.

BEST BET

OUR PARAMOUR (R2 No.7 – $2.80)

First starter but respect the Mark Walker-Blake Shinn combination. Drawn perfectly and trialled well leading up to debut.

NEXT BEST

THE CRYING GAME (R4 No.8 – $7)

Placed at Pakenham first-up then held ground in town. Back to provincial level and drawn to be prominent.

SUBSIX (R9 No.3 – $5.50)

Placed second-up last campaign at Sandown behind sharp Robrick. A repeat performance would be more than good enough for this.

VALUE BET

BLACK PENN (R7 No.1 – $23)

Only second-up so might need the run still but capable of sneaking a place. Poorly drawn.

SUPERSTOCK (R8 No.7 – $15)

Doesn’t win out of turn, two of 20, but has lived in the city basically. Should find this easier, drawn well and Brad Rawiller sticks.

THE JOCKEY

MICHAEL DEE

KING WEST (R1 No.5 – $2.60), SWING LOW (R2 No.10 – $8), DE BERGERAC (R6 No.1 – $3.80), PROPRIETARY (R8 No.11 – $14), LADY CEDERBERG (R9 No.5 – $11)
