Tyler Schiller has made the seamless transition from champion apprentice to genuine Sydney premiership contender and the star hoop is hungry to further enhance his title credentials at Royal Randwick this Saturday.

Schiller heads into the final meeting before Christmas just three wins off premiership leader Nash Rawiller (39 wins) after cutting the margin with a winning double on Wednesday at Warwick Farm.

He also leads the statewide premiership while piloting more horses than any other jockey in the state over the first five months of the season with 421 rides already this campaign.

Hard work is paying big dividends as Schiller prepares to strike again with another excellent book of 10 rides at Royal Randwick this Saturday.

“It’s a very humbling experience getting this far in a short amount of time,” Schiller said.

“Coming out last season I was having a really good season early then tapered off a bit towards the end,

“I was still fourth on the premiership but nothing compared to last season.

“I think I’ve almost got to where I was last season in the first four months so I am very grateful for the opportunities and hopefully keep on track for that 100 metro winners.”

Schiller can start his day off on the right note with last start Max Lees Classic winner Erno’s Cube.

Erno’s Cube is one of two Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained juveniles to contest the Drinkwise Plate (1100m).

The Rubick filly showed a devastating turn of speed to break her maiden at Newcastle last time and is a $3.90 second elect to back up the scintillating display.

“She probably had a bit of experience on the field up there at Newcastle but the way she did it, she was very sharp,” Schiller said.

“Jason (Collett) got her in behind the line and she really settled and seemed to hit the line really well.

“I would say it will be much the same on the weekend.

“She is drawn, I wouldn’t say awkward, but in a spot where she will probably have to get back rather than go forward and I think the main danger will be up on pace.

“She looks a progressive filly.”

Schiller will also link up with three exciting colts - Ceolwolf, Matusalem and Chrysaor.

The Joseph Pride-trained Ceolwolf returns from a break after winning his first two starts last preparation before finishing runner-up to Encap in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality.

Ceolwolf ($5 fav) contests the TAB Benchmark 78 Handicap (1300m).

“Ceolwolf is probably the most progressive horse (I will ride),” Schiller said.

“Going from a maiden to a Group 3 in one prep is pretty good.

“I trialled him the other day and he gave me a really good feel in a fast run trial at Hawkesbury.

“He is a lovely colt and very well mannered for a colt which is positive.”

Chris Waller’s Chrysaor won the Group 2 Callander-Presnell last start in October and has been given a short freshen up before his return in the Schweppes Benchmark 100 Handicap (1400m).

“Chrysaor gets in with a light weight (52kg) and I think he is going good,” Schiller said.

“He gave me a nice feel in his trial the other day and a Group 2 winner last start.

“He is a quality colt and I think he is on the way to the Magic Millions so it would be nice to stick with him.”

Waller is also the conditioner of Matusalem, who is a $6 chance in the Doyle’s Breeding And Racing Benchmark 74 Handicap (1600m).

Matusalem won his last start over 1800m at Rosehill Gardens in October and has also been freshened ahead of this week’s assignment.

“He seems to be in good form and has run in some good races,” Schiller said.

“I don’t think it’s a very tough field and he is a horse getting in with a lightweight.

“He will probably get back a little bit but he should be able to run home.”

Schiller also has great chances with Auspicious Cloud ($5), Dodi ($9) and Miss Hellfire ($6.50) while Denarau ($21) and Munitions ($71) and New Republic ($41) are his other rides.

Schiller will head to Queensland two of the next three Saturdays for the Magic Millions lead ups and raceday.
