Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Batrana the best bet of Saturday’s Sandown Hillside races

Handy filly Batrana could bounce back from an unlucky first-up run while a consistent performer from the Lindsay Park camp could produce an upset at Saturday’s Sandown Hillside meeting.

Racenet and Herald Sun form analyst looks at Saturday’s Sandown Hillside meeting.

BEST BET

BATRANA (Race 4, No. 5)

Batrana jumped out well before her luckless first-up third at Caulfield. She’ll be fitter and has drawn to race much closer at Sandown.

BEST VALUE

ANGRY SKIES (Race 6, No. 10)

Angry Skies was a strong winner two starts back before an even run last time. Winkers go back on and he’s drawn perfectly.

RACE 1: 11:50AM SPORTSBET SET A DEPOSIT LIMIT HANDICAP (1000m)

A little weight swing could be enough for BLUE RENEGADE (2) to go one better than his narrow defeat to INTEREST POINT (1) at Caulfield but the pair is likely to fight out the first. HUSK (4) let down well to score first-up and will be fitter while CLEAN REEF (7) has trialled well.

SUGGESTED BET: Small win bet Blue Renegade.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Interest Point $6 – $5.

RACE 2: 12:25PM IVE> HANDICAP (1400m)

LA FRACAS (7) will step up in class at Sandown but his maiden win at Pakenham was utterly dominant and the import looks like he’s going places. KREMENTZ (5) raced wide when resuming so can improve sharply with a softer run second-up. ENNA’S DREAM (6) hasn’t had a lot of luck at either run this time in and must be respected again. RIPROAR (2) boxed on OK on the Lakeside track last time and wouldn’t mind it wet.

SUGGESTED BET: La Fracas to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: La Fracas $6.50 – $5.

RACE 3: 1:00PM VALE FR BRENDAN DILLON (1400m)

One of the tougher races on the Sandown card but EL ROCKO (4) is worth thought after his strong win at Pakenham over a subsequent easy Sandown winner. VAIL MOUNTAIN (6) didn’t have the best of luck at Bendigo and is worth another chance. SNAPPY SECRET (9) doesn’t want it too wet but he’s racing well in this grade. FIASCO TESS (12) is going well enough to be worth including here.

SUGGESTED BET: El Rocko each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: El Rock $10 – $8.

RACE 4: 1:35PM EVERGREEN TURF HANDICAP (1300m)

Happy to back BATRANA (5) after her unlucky first-up run at Caulfield, which followed solid jumpout efforts. She’ll be fitter and another 100m will be perfect. MISS ROUMBINI (12) resumed with a good effort at Pakenham and won second-up last time in. HEARCOMESTHESTAR (4) is hard-fit, racing well and should be around the mark again. SOCIALLY SASSY (15) is up in class but is worth though for exotics.

SUGGESTED BET: Batrana to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Miss Roumbini $8.50 – $7.

RACE 5: 2:10PM SPORTSBET FAST FORM HANDICAP (1600m)

Forgiving PRECIOUS CHARM (3), who had to work too hard up front here last time and could improve significantly despite the wide gate. BLUE MOON (5) ran on well in the same race at Precious Charm and should be around the mark again. BINDING (1) was a strong first-up winner and handles all types of ground. MISS TARZY (4) is a handy mare that can race well here fresh.

SUGGESTED BET: Precious Charm each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Arqana $9 – $6.50.

RACE 6: 2:45PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (1600m)

ANGRY SKIES (10) could produce an upset result here after a fair effort in an on-pacer’s race last time and wetter ground won’t worry him. LOOK CLOSELY (8) is a talented galloper that has his issues but his recent jumpouts have been solid. CHARTRES (2) broke through for a deserved win at Cranbourne and could go on with it. HARD TO CROSS (1) is racing in great form and will be hard to beat.

SUGGESTED BET: Angry Skies each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Hard To Cross $15 – $7.

RACE 7: 3:25PM LOCKETTLED.AU HANDICAP (1000m)

Probably the hardest race of the day but SOUTH OF HOUSTON (16) might be worth an each-way ticket. She’s a speedy type down in the weights that has gone well at the jumpouts. MRS CHRISSIE (13) has returned with two excellent efforts and will be fitter. PORT ALBERT (9) won well first-up and is worth including despite the gate. VIVIANE (2) is never far away and drops in class.

SUGGESTED BET: South Of Houston to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Mrs Chrissie $5 – $4.80.

RACE 8: 4:05PM TILE IMPORTER HANDICAP (1400m)

IS IT ME (16) did a good job when not far away at Caulfield last time and could measure up to this assignment with only 54kg on his back. EARLSWOOD (5) will want more ground but he’s down in class for this and has been sharp at the jumpouts. WINDSTORM (8) went well on debut for the new stable fresh and will be fitter. NICOLINI VITO (4) broke through here last time out and should go well again.

SUGGESTED BET: Is It Me to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Nicolini Vito $7.50 – $4.

RACE 9: 4:35PM SPORTSBET RACE REPLAYS HANDICAP (1800m)

Another difficult race to finish but GREGOLINO (13) could improve significantly dropping in distance after a fair effort at Caulfield. CADMUS (16) is a talented type that ran on well at Flemington and will be fitter again. JIMMY THE BEAR (4) did his best work late at Caulfield and looks ready for this longer race. POUNDING (3) is always worth including at this level.

SUGGESTED BET: Gregolino each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Dashing $10 – $7.50
