Race 1 – Maiden Handicap (1600m)
Chris Waller brings them North to get a win and PEAR BELLINI (6) put the writing on the wall when just missing at Ipswich last start. Out of a Tatts Tiara winner, this bigger track suits and Kyle Wilson-Taylor will have her ready to strike as they straighten.
Jack Bruce has three acceptors all chances. The resuming STYNSY (1) may want longer but brings Victorian form being narrowly beaten over 2000m last start. With Taylor Marshall, he can test them late.
RANGER ENJAY (5) had his first start for David Vandyke beating all but the winner on the polytrack. He switches to turf, blinkers go on and with Ryan Maloney taking the ride cannot be ignored.
CASTERLY ROCK (2) has been plugging away, has fitness on his side and with positive ride from Damien Thornton will be in the finish.
Verdict – PEAR BELLINI (6) is due.

Race 2 – Maiden Handicap (1200m)
None of these inspire. David Vandyke and Ryan Maloney have been a profitable combination over the years and the recently gelded THE TERMINATOR (5) has been readied by three trials since coming North. From the ace draw he gets all the favours and will be hard to pass.
The five-year-old BE FRIENDLY (1) hasn’t been beaten far at all three outings and trialled well recently with subsequent winner A Touch From Fayt. All the gear comes off, he is poorly drawn but gets a 3kg claim and Corey Sutherland will take no prisoners.
SHAMOUTI (10) had support at debut but never flattered. He beat THE TERMINATOR (5) in a recent trial and with Ron Stewart will get a good run throughout.
EMBEZZLED HEART (3) is yet to show anything but won a recent trial and Stuart Kendrick is leading trainer here for a reason.
Verdict – I am on THE TERMINATOR (5).

Race 3 – 3YO Maiden Handicap (1000m)
Blinkers go on CAPITAL BEAUTY (12) which was unwanted in the market but not disgraced when resuming and trials better than that. A good gate helps, and Jack Martin will have her near the speed throughout.
BOOMROUX (2) has had his issues but has placed at three of four starts and been readied by two trials. Now a gelding, he gets some gear changes, this trip suits first-up and with Siobhan Rutledge he will be near the speed throughout.
BRUTAL ADVANCE (4) has drawn awkwardly but has won both his trials and can show up fresh for Kyle Wilson-Taylor.
SENORITA ZETA (14) showed speed on debut, has had one trial to get ready and Jake Bayliss won’t mess around when the gates open.
Verdict – CAPITAL BEAUTY (12) to improve.

Race 4 – Class 1 and Maiden Plate (1000m)
Now a six-year-old entire BARASSI (1)’s only win was the Magic Millions Maiden but his career has been dogged by setbacks. His recent trial was dominant, the nose roll comes off and with Kyle Wilson-Taylor from the ace there will be no excuses.
KEENAN (2) is another that has promised more than delivered but wasn’t beaten far when resuming from a wide gate in a Saturday Class 1. A better gate helps, blinkers go back on, and he will be well-placed by Cejay Graham.
ENCOURAGED (4) came from a long way back and rounded up Jimmyinthejungle when having his first outing for Darryl Hansen. He rises 2kg with Justin Huxtable replacing Cejay graham and can test them late again.
A TOUCH FROM FAYT (7) is another showing promise and got the Maiden out of the way last start. This trip suits and Paul Hamblin will have her on the bunny for a long way.
Verdict – Trusting BARASSI (1) to get it done.

Race 5 – Class 5 Handicap (1400m)
This track and distance suit TOJAKI (2) which is fitter for two outings. She hasn’t shown a lot since resuming but is Saturday grade when right and Jake Bayliss can round them up.
Both of BEAUTANTES (1) runs since resuming have been in this class and he should now be cherry ripe. This trip suits, he won three races last preparation and with Cobi Vitler’s claim will be hard to hold out.
FAT FINGERS (11) hasn’t put in a bad run this preparation and has won here previously. He has picked them off from well back at his past two Gold Coast outings and will get every opportunity to do the same here.
RIVIERA BLUE (5) resumed from a freshen-up and made ground at Eagle Farm in this Class last start. He won here two starts back. Angela Jones stays on, and from the ace draw will get all the favours.
Verdict – With the class of TOJAKI (2).

Race 6 – Benchmark 65 Handicap (1200m)
PYROIS (3) has found some zest since moving to Lee Freedman in Queensland. He loomed to win and wasn’t beaten far here last start and will appreciate a drier track. Michael Rodd stays on and will be picking them off late.
FIGHTING IDOL (5) goes best here and this is his trip. From a good gate, Justin Stanley will have him well-placed throughout.
MAMBO DANCER (8) ran in the same race as PYROIS (3) last start and wasn’t beaten far. He will strip fitter and gets the gun run with Ron Stewart.
COLLEANO (10) didn’t flatter when resuming on the Heavy 10 at Doomben but his trial was better than that. Now having his second start since arriving from Victoria he can improve.
Verdict – PYROIS (3) to continue his progression.

Race 7 – Benchmark 62 Handicap (1600m)
Hard to go past an honest mare and AUTUMN MISS (7) rarely runs poorly but has been finding it hard to win. She just missed to Backlit Beauty over 1800m at the Gold Coast and will appreciate this shorter journey. Dan McGillivray stays on, will get the gun run and she can break through.
SINGER SARGENT (4) is fitter for three outings and two of his three wins have been here. With Zac Sprie’s 3kg claim he will be well placed throughout and can finish off.
The lightly raced FITZROY STREET (14) beat all but Sirkel at his first outing for Stuart Kendrick and might be the one with upside. He is awkwardly drawn but scratchings help his gate and Kyle Wilson-Taylor will have him close enough if good enough.
TAREX (9) has never lived up to his early promise but is fitter for three outings and has placed at three of four outings here. With Rob Thorburn’ 2kg claim he can go forward and make his own luck.
Verdict – AUTUMN MISS (7) is overdue.

Race 8 – Benchmark 0-58 Handicap (1300m)
Blinkers go back on CATTRALL (9) which came from a long way back to place in similar company here last start. Kyle Wilson-Taylor stays on and with a better getaway will be hard to hold out.
YEAH COPY (16) went forward and was dominant at Dalby. He meets a stronger field here, but Cejay Graham replaces Madeleine Wishart, and he will be near the speed for a long way.
VOCALS (12) has drawn the carpark, but scratchings will help, and she hasn’t been far away at her past two outings. Now third-up, a rain-affected track is what she wants, and she can get in the finish.
Both of SINGULAR (2)’s wins have been on the poly, but he won a trial on the turf not long ago and has the speed to be prominent.
Verdict – CATTRALL (9) to have her day.
