Saturday late mail, tips, analysis for Day 1 of The Championships at Royal Randwick and around Australia

It’s a massive day of racing at Royal Randwick on Saturday, and all eyes are on the weather. Here’s your one stop shop for all the tips and analysis for racing around Australia.

It’s Day 1 of The Championships on Saturday and we’re off and racing at Royal Randwick.

After a staggering 230mm of rain in 24 hours, the track has been deemed safe for racing and has even been upgraded from a Heavy 10 to a Heavy 9 before the first race.

The four Group 1 races on the card are the Sires’ Produce, the TJ Smith Stakes, the Doncaster Mile and the Australian Derby.

In the Sires, superstar colt Storm Boy ($2.40) will bounce back from his Golden Slipper defeat out to the 1400m with J-Mac back on.

Chris Waller’s pair Militarize ($9) and Kovalica ($19) are huge chances in the Doncaster, while Bella Nipotina ($8.50) and Mazu ($13) should run well in the TJ Smith.

All four horses are good odds and will appreciate the heavy conditions.

My quaddie numbers at Randwick are 1,3,5,8,9 / 4,7,8,12,18,19 / 1,2,3,4 / 2,6,12,13,18,20 which costs $720 for 100 per cent, or $72 for 10 per cent.
