Shayno: Hello Mitchy. Hill Stakes first off. I must say I have always had a liking for all of the horses in the Kovalica colours, going back to Rangirangdoo in fact. If Kovalica gets the breaks, I think he wins. If I owned him, he’d be in the Melbourne Cup.

Mitch: I am glad you don’t own him then Shayno! He’s a chance but it’s been a while between drinks for the former Queensland Derby winner. I’m with Golden Path. He was third in the Kingston Town behind Eliyass and that’s proven to be the form line, producing the Epsom winner Ceolwulf and Metrop quinella Land Legend and Zardozi.

Austin confident despite Terra’s firmer test

Shayno: Inside draws are often poison for horses like the aforementioned Kovalica. I just hope barrier 2 doesn’t deny Gary Portelli and Encap a big payday in the $1.5 million Alan Brown on Saturday.

Mitch: I am expecting it to be Tommy Berry’s ‘shout’ after Saturday. He’s got a great book and Gringotts is among the best of them in that Alan Brown. With more luck he beats Mchale in the Bill Ritchie but he can go one better here. Encap goes in to fill the quinella.

Heavyweights endorse The Everest’s ‘deserved’ Group 1 status

Shayno: Going with the ‘Slipper form’ in the Roman Consul, Mitchy. Coleman is just so well treated at the set weights.

Mitch: Coleman is the proven galloper but I have leant the way of a filly with upside and that man Berry again. He’s on Spirit Of Wealth – a filly I reckon is going places after a couple of ultra impressive wins to start her career.

Cummings family training relaunch hits major hurdle

Shayno: The Tapp-Craig (named after two of my idols) is a very tough and absorbing 1400m feature. More Territories has been the eye-catcher in the Furious and Tea Rose and even though she is a filly taking on the colts and geldings, this is a class drop in effect.

Mitch: Snack Bar is one of the best on the card for mine in the Tapp-Craig. Beaten less than half a length by Lady Shenandoah and Mayfair in the Ming Dynasty looks super form now.

‘Haven’t seen the best of him’: ‘Brickie’ lays down $2 million marker

Shayno: The Nivison is a long way off being a two-horse race but I fancy one of the Waller pair will win, namely Roots or Olentia. You?

Mitch: I’ve got a feeling Blanc De Blanc is ready to run a big race third up in the Nivison. I’ll be having something each way for sure.

Broadsiding ambush: Gai’s two-pronged Guineas assault

Shayno: My best is El Castello. Gloaming, Spring Champion and then the VRC Derby hopefully.

Mitch: Ah Shayno. How will he do that when Henlein is winning the Gloaming-Spring Champion double?
