WYONG INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1

California Sunrise is a daughter of Pierro whose C.V reads, four starts for a win, a second, a third and a fourth. She has a 1300m win and a 1400m second this preparation and all indications are that she is ready for, and should indeed relish, the mile now. Pocket Eights was $1.12 (for good reason) when he broke his maiden at Kempsey on the Heavy 10. Goes 1250m to 1600m but he’ll run a mile almost for sure. Cook Island Girl won on a Heavy 8 first-up at 1400m. The ‘best’ Koning would be taking home the prize here.

Bet: California Sunrise to win

RACE 2

Magic Shadow is a Per Incanto gelding in the same colours as a more famous Per Incanato progeny in Lost And Running. This Ciaron Maher gelding has superior form to his rivals but has drawn wide and not sold on him being a Wyong horse myself. Elle Hudson is a big, big improver as time goes by. She’s A Tarzino from the Joe Pride camp and will appreciate every inch of the 1350m and more after that. My Shalom could run into a place here at big odds.

Bet: Magic Elle Hudson each-way

RACE 3

Delrico has the makings of a good three-year-old next season. The Chris Waller trained colt is by Kingman, his second dam is by Nashwan. Trials have been fantastic. With all that said, there is every chance that he, and/or, his stablemate Automne Tree, will be reserved for Warwick Farm on Wednesday. Lavalier has talent and so he ought to be given his roll-call of siblings Bullbars, Helmet, Epaulette, Pearls and Pericles.

Bet: Delrico to win or if scratched Autumne Tree to win or if scratched Lavalier to win

RACE 4

Boom Smash Opera’s grand-dam, Songstar, is a Galileo half-sister to Sunline. Wow. This Edward Cummings trained colt is by Brave Smash and has trialled four times dating back to late December. All of them have been good to varying degrees, none of them were better than the last one. Sunset Red was scratched from Tamworth last Friday so is now scheduled to make his debut at her home track. Trials suggest a level of talent. Lonhreel and Sapphire Kiss both have claims.

Bet: Boom Smash Opera to win

RACE 5

Contrived races in the same colours as his father, Flying Artie. Trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou took him to Orange to win his debut. It was quite a strong 1010m country maiden given the runner-up was Wilbury. Trials have been absolutely outstanding. Limahuli is a very close relation to Kementari; both horses are direct descendants of the great Denise’s Joy. This will be Limahuli’s first run as a gelding. Trialling well also. Here Comes Hogan hit the line with purpose there at Scone first-up.

Bet: Contrived to win

RACE 6

Hellova Nature is a son of Hellbent with a tidy little C.V of four starts for two wins and a third. The two wins were pretty impressive too. All of his runs have been on Good tracks but the breed invariably handle the slop. Boss was fair dinkum the best 7th of 11 you would ever see when he resumed at Hawkesbury over the 1000m. Take note the Adam Duggan housed gelding has won two out of three second-up attempts. Ces Soirees La has enough talent to be winning. Bodgie will be popular again.

Bet: Hellova Nature to win, Ces Soirees La to place

RACE 7

Michelle’s Girl is trained here at Wyong by Kellie Nicholls. The grey mare had her first start at home on June 27 in a 1000m Benchmark 64 and ran as well as any of the beaten brigade and better than most. One of her two career wins was over 1150m on the Beaumont on a Heavy 9. Makes each-way appeal. Midnight Harry was $1.90 into $1.65 first-up when he won very, very easily at Kembla. That is to say, not by a mammoth margin but it was almost like a barrier trial for him. Have to follow up given that he was first run back. Villa Tino and Fourth Spargo are in the mix.

Bet: Michelle’s Girl each-way, quinella 8,14, box trifecta 8,10,11,14

RACE 8

Candy Women is a valuable filly; her grand-dam is Sugar Babe who is herself a daughter of On Type. As for Candy Women, she has raced six times for a win and three placings. Perhaps the most pertinent stat of all is that she has raced on a Heavy track twice for a win and a very, very close second at Newcastle as recently as her last start. Brett Lazzarini has Bonus Tempus racing exceedingly well. Look at his numbers at the track and trip - five starts for a win and three seconds. Stablemates Sing A Love Song and Spicy Hotpot are in contention.

Bet: Candy Women to win, Bonus Tempus to place, quinella 9,10

ALBURY

BEST BET

Race 6 No. 1: Cooee

Untapped and unbeaten, his big weight but at home again with the great draw.

NEXT BEST

Race 7 No. 11: Release The Breaks

Only win in 16 career starts was here at Albury and over this trip. Placed here last start.

VALUE

Race 2 No. 7: Bernay

OTI galloper from the Ben Brisbourne stable who is well placed and ‘building’.
