HAWKESBURY INSIDE MAIL

Race 5: Super Maiden Plate (1500m)
FAKHRA (9) was beaten as favourite when a long head second to Alcabeel when resuming at Newcastle over 1400m on June 29. She will improve as she steps up in trip and was placed over 1550m on the Kensington last campaign. MEGA FIGHT (4) is close to his maiden win. Missed the kick last start but flashing home for a close second. CEREMONIOUS (3) has placed in four of her five starts including twice at Moonee Valley. Drawn well and gets a 4kg claim.
Bet: Fakhra to win.

Race 6: Colts, Horses and Geldings Benchmark 64 (1100m)
TRISKELION (4) resumes from a spell for a new stable. Worked home well when fourth to Luna Field in his Rosehill trial on June 21. Showed good ability with a nice debut win from Jamais at Canterbury back in January. CHARTWELL (2) was hampered near the 250m when fifth to Iron Man at Canterbury first-up on June 19. Placed both second-up runs and will figure prominently. CAPITAL MAC (6) hasn’t raced since winning his maiden at Newcastle in April last year and will have taken good benefit from his two recent trials.
Bet: Triskelion to win.

Race 7: Fillies and Mares Benchmark 64 (1100m)
NIGHTINGALE (5) resumes from a spell off a couple of handy trials including a win at Warwick Farm after sitting wide on the speed. Only had the one run last campaign when fourth at Kembla. Previous prep was good including a big win at Newcastle. SETOMBE (6) was disappointing behind Drift Net at Warwick Farm last start over 1300m when beaten as an odds-on fav. Her previous two runs were very good. KOBY GIRL (9) led when second to the smart Xidaki in her Randwick trial on June 28.
Bet: Nightingale each-way.

Race 8: Class 1 Handicap (1500m)
IRISH BLISS (3) followed a smart all-the-way maiden win from Divine Ella at Kembla with a second to Rothrock in a Benchmark 66 over 1700m at Scone. Back in distance, back in grade and blinkers go on. SING A LOVE SONG (11) resumed with a half-length second to Monte Maximus here before making ground from last when sixth to Pure Alpha on the Kensington on June 12. Placed second at his only other run here. LA BELLE CLAIRE (10) won well at Wyong last start and will give plenty of cheek.
Bet: Irish Bliss to win.

MUSWELLBROOK TIPS

BEST BET
Race 3 No. 12 VERCELLI
Raced wide throughout when fourth on debut. Back from a long break and wasn’t pushed when third in her recent trial here.

NEXT BEST
Race 7 No. 4 CONSENZA
Solid efforts at both runs this preparation in higher grade. Ready to peak third-up.

MUSWELLBROOK INSIDE MAIL

Race 5: Maiden Handicap (1450m)
BERTIE (5) almost broke through for his maiden win when beaten a nose by Meerut over 1350m at Newcastle three starts back. Stepped up to a mile when fourth at his next two runs at Hawkesbury and Wyong. Drops back to 1450m and will go close. FULL COMMITMENT (7) resumed from a spell with a closing half-length second to Red Duster at Gunnedah over 1300m. Wide gate the only query but will be strong late again. RATHORAN (6) is closing in on his maiden win after placings three of his last four.
Bet: Bertie to win.

Race 6: Class 1 Handicap (1000m)
HAWKWIND (4) bumped into a very smart one on debut when second to In Flight at Gosford. Was runner-up to Lady Extreme before a breakthrough win at Wyong on Dec 23. Will take improvement from her third in a recent Wyong trial. EXOREALM (6) was a handy third at Taree on debut then was back when last at Wyong. Jumped well to share the lead and win stylishly on a heavy track at Taree last start. IN MY DREAMS (7) drops in grade from her third to Cosy Corner at Wyong two weeks ago.
Bet: Hawkwind to win.

Race 7: Benchmark 66 (1280m)
CONSENZA (4) closed off nicely to finish less than a length off South Of India in third place when resuming over 1100m at Scone. Settled well back and was held up on the turn when fourth to The Dramatist over 1200m at Tamworth. Drops back from Benchmark 82 to a Benchmark 66 and ready to peak. MISS CARTEL (7) scored a well-earned maiden win at Scone and followed up with a win at Taree. Good chance for the hat-trick. FOURTH SPARGO (10) has solid form and will be prominent.
Bet: Consenza to win.

Race 8: Benchmark 58 (1000m)
QUICK ONYX (8) has been off the scene for nine months but had handy form last preparation including a first-up win at Scone and a couple of fourths at Newcastle and on the Beaumont. In a new stable and trialled nicely at Wellington at the end of May. CUPID’S KISS (1) is in terrific form with two wins and two placings from her last four starts. Was a winner in a Benchmark 66 at Taree two starts back. Looking to give apprentice Lauren Van Tijn a winner at her first ride. SUNDAY BELL (3) has claims on his Scone win and Gunnedah placing.
Bet: Quick Onyx each-way.
