International jockeys Cieren Fallon and Antonio Orani were both slugged with one month bans and enormous fines after fighting out the finish in the $10 million Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens.

A record $100,000 fine was given to Fallon while Orani was also slugged with a $30,000 fine for careless riding offences in the main event on Saturday.

Fallon put his name up in lights in the Golden Eagle when William Haggas-trained Lake Forest gunned down the Orani-ridden Lazzat before both jockeys felt the wrath of Stewards post-race.

Chief steward Steve Railton said stipes even considered issuing a more serious charge of reckless riding for Fallon after he allowed his mount to shift out sharply over the final 50m.

He labelled the ride ‘grossly careless’.

“What we saw over the last 50m is not a good advertisement for racing,” Railton said.

labelled Fallon’s ride over the final 50m as ‘bordering on reckless’ after he allowed Lake Forest to shift out sharply.

The English raider made contact with Lazzat, which created a domino effect to his outside onto Makarena, who was hampered as a result.

Stewards considered the careless riding on the high range and expressed their displeasure in Fallon’s steer, slapping him with a huge fine and a suspension that will begin next Sunday.

Fallon’s 5 per cent winning rider payment was $262,500.

Orani was also in the Stewards’ crosshairs for his ride on Lazzat over the concluding stages.

He allowed the Jerome Reynier-trained galloper to shift out at around the 75m mark, causing severe interference to Stefi Magnetica.

Stefi Magnetica had obtained a run between Lazzat and Makarena but Orani’s shift out saw that door close and Bjorn Baker’s mare blundered as a result.

“Whether it is in Australia or France or anywhere, there is an expectation to keep the horse straight,” Railton said.

He was fined $30,000 for his interference while also putting him on the sidelines for a month.

Stewards had brought all 20 jockeys into the room before the race to stress that all riders would be expected to ride up to safety standards in the feature event or receive serious punishments.
