The first of new bookmaker Betr’s staggering spring offers has come up trumps for punters with Anamoe’s Cox Plate win resulting in a payout understood to have been well in excess of $10m.
Amid much fanfare, Betr’s recent entry into the wagering market came with a number of massively enticing markets for punters, including offering $21 (max $10 bet) about Godolphin pin-up boy Anamoe in the Cox Plate.
The too good to refuse offer meant Betr carried huge exposure on the raging hot $2.40 favourite heading into the $5m weight-for-age showpiece.

“Our liability on Anamoe was more than five times what we’d budgeted,” Betr’s CEO Andrew Menz said.
“It’s a great result for our customers so early on. While we were ambitious and keen to hit the ground running, we’re genuinely excited that the punters have landed an early blow.”
Betr has five times as many customers than it expected at this point in time. It has already taken more than one million bets in only 12 days since launch.
On Sunday, the Betr app is No.1 on the Australian app charts, ahead of the likes of Google, TikTok, WhatsApp and myGovID.
Its focus now turns to the Melbourne Cup, with $101 on offer (max $10 bet) about each runner in contention until 5pm on Derby Day this Saturday.
Favourite Deauville Legend is holding more than 30 per cent of the punters’ money and the import is quoted at $5.50 favourite in most markets.
