INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1

Off The Scale is a sixth generation direct-descendant of the Caulfield Cup winner How Now. This Lou Mary trained filly will relish the step up to 1400m on Monday after her closing fourth on debut in a 1200m here on Sep 30. Reluctant Diva led and faded on a Heavy 9 at Scone last start. Maybe the firmer footing helps, maybe she will be ridden a tad quieter too? Meddlesome has placed (third) in all four runs so who is to say she won’t again.

Bet: Off The Scale to win (best bet)

RACE 2

Calga Power was $21 out to $41 for no good reason on debut except perhaps that it was quite a good quality Newcastle maiden. This Kris Lees trained gelding was as good as anything in the race and better than most, both to the eye and on the clock. Kickoff kicks off his new campaign in a suitable race from hopefully, for him, will be a suitable barrier (one). Sizzling Boy is getting close to a win. Has a wide alley but gets Aaron Bullock again.

Bet: Calga Power to win, box trifecta and First 4 Nos. 3,4,9,16

RACE 3

Bakhita is another of the Lou Mary trained TAB favourites racing on Monday. This Deep Field filly had trialled well prior to her closing third in a good-looking 1000m Maiden here. Drawn 12 of 14 is the main issue. It’s A Written turned the page on two pretty ordinary runs to start her career when she resumed in that same race finishing fourth. Could be worth following up on. Tomoe Gozen and Silent Invader are decent (very) longshots.

Bet: Bakhita to win, Tomoe Gozen and Silent Invasion to place

RACE 4

Perennial and Custo faced off at Newcastle in a 900m Benchmark 64 back on Feb 3. Perennial won, Custo was a length and three-quarters away in third. Plenty of water has flowed under the bridge since then and one would imagine that both camps turn up with an air of cautious confidence. Luck might be the deciding factor; both have drawn wide. If something were to ambush them both late, it could very well be the famous fast finisher, Very Sharp.

Bet: Perennial to win, exacta 2 to beat 1

RACE 5

Margaret’s Missile has been a model of consistency in her four runs for Garry Lunn namely ‘3213’. The mile is her go and surely barrier one can’t hurt her. Full Commitment is trained by Saturday’s Highway winner, Jeremy Gask, and will probably end up in Highways herself when the right one comes along. She’s only had eight starts for a win and four placings and has raced well at this track. Drawn wide is the worry.

Bet: Margaret’s Missile to win, quinella 8,10

RACE 6

Alpine Kandy was bred at the famous Armidale Stud in Tasmania and sold at the Island’s annual sale for $50,000 to Annabel Neasham. Kindly take note that the son of Alpine Eagle has been nominated for a 2000m at Hawkesbury on Thursday. Mammoth Mountain’s last five runs are‘12712’ but better still, the Glen Innes gelding has raced at this t/d four times for a win and two seconds. That win was on Sep 16 where he narrowly defeated Crash ‘N’ Bash who runs here also.

Bet: Alpine Kandy to win, Daily Double 1st Leg (6), 2nd Leg (1)

RACE 7

Release Point is a lightly-raced and handy son of Bull Point whose current C.V reads as one win, one second from four starts. Her first-up run over 1100m was a beauty, she followed that up with an honourable second to Great Siege at this t/d two weeks ago. Cody Morgan trained local Magic Flyer has run well in all three starts here at home and has Aaron Bullock on for Monday’s mission. Go well. Paris Lad the talent but not the desirable draw.

Bet: Release Point each-way, quinella 4,5

RACE 8

Sting Jet is a Patriot Bloodstock/Brett Cavanough entry who boasts some very deep form. Case (s) in point, he beat Melody Again in the precursor to the H&NW Country Champs Heat in which Sting Jet finished third. Couldn’t have missed his first-up sixth on the 1000m Perennial Highway. Zenti likewise has been running quite well, most times, against some quality country opposition. He won his maiden here by seven-lengths when Kristen Buchanan had him.

Bet: Sting Jet to win, exacta 1 to beat 3, box trifecta 1,3,7,10
