Two of Australia’s biggest rivals had jump outs on either side of Melbourne as they continued their respective buildups to their clash in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes this month.

Mr Brightside had the first Jump Out of his preparation at Flemington while Pride Of Jenni stepped out for the second time at Cranbourne this time in.

Pride Of Jenni easily won her Jump Out under regular rider Declan Bates while Mr Brightside had an easier time of things at Flemington.

Craig Williams, who has ridden Mr Brightside to five Group 1 win, was aboard the Lindsay Park-trained gelding as he finished on the heels of the placegetters in his heat.

Ben Hayes said Mr Brightside did everything asked of him in his 800m hitout.

“We were very happy,” who trains Mr Brightside in partnership with his brothers Will and JD, said.

“We were just there for a bowl around.

“Craig just let him balance and said he was nice in his action and went through the line well so it was exactly what we were looking for.

“He’s never had a really hard first jump out and that’s what we normally do with our horses.

“A lot of those horses in the heat were having their second hit-out so I thought he did a good job.”

Hayes said Mr Brightside would have another jump out at Flemington in the next two weeks before heading to Caulfield to chase his second successive Memsie Stakes win.

He said Mr Brightside’s condition improved with every gallop and he would be ready to take on Pride Of Jenni in the Memsie Stakes.

“Mr B will be ready to go,” Hayes said.

“His coat is starting to turn and a lot can change in the three weeks leading up to that race.”

TAB rated Pride Of Jenni as the $2.25 favourite in its early Memsie Stakes market while Mr Brightside is a $4 second pick.
