INSIDE MAIL - LISMORE

RACE 1

Rodeo Dealer has done some good things in his five starts, in fact, four of his runs were either good or very good. He led and faded to finish fifth in the Big Maiden at Grafton on Cup Day. This is considerably weaker. Regarding the 1310m, it is Lismore and he is bred to run a mile and more. Back On De Quo gives every impression that he is looking for 1310m now and gets there third-up having run in two pretty strong Maidens. Temple Of Gold is the value.

Bet: Rodeo Dealer to win

RACE 2

Clubhouse remains winless after 14 starts but the cleverly named son of Speith (think of the golfer), has placed six times, three of them are seconds and one of those was here at Lismore where he chased home the well above-average Bretsal. Has a winning draw if he can convert. Tosen Dreamer is 16 starts without a win but she has 11 placings on her C.V and several of her runs were as good as wins in the merit department. Wide draw is no help. Hurricane Rose is a market watch.

Bet: Clubhouse to win, quinella 1, 13

RACE 3

Rainbow Lass is a two-year-old filly from Casino who was $8.50 out to $21 on debut in a Grafton Super Maiden on July 14 but ran much more like an $8.50 shot than a $21 outsider. There was a bit to like about her trial leading into it too. Blue blood Edge Of Seventeen was on-pace from start to finish when runner-up at Eagle Farm first-up. Don’t forget Amnesia here (sorry, too easy) but truly the trial win at the Gold Coast was a beauty and he has NSW provincial form.

Bet: Rainbow Lass to win

RACE 4

Gobbled has a drawn a wide gate but will slide in a few spots. The Brett Dodson-trained gelding drew 14 of 14 when he ran third at Grafton last start, but Lismore is a lot different shape. Still, he is as good as anything else in the race and better than most. Nickelback has been costly to follow but to get fair, he has finished with a medal at 13 of his 23 starts and often in races well above this one. Drawn 3. Much More Torque ran well in a good quality race at Tamworth last time out.

Bet: Gobbled each-way

RACE 5

Montana Rising is from the Montana family and there’s been some good ones too in these same green and purple colours. As for Montana Rising, she had her first run (at career start three) for Sally Taylor at Port Macquarie on May 29, leading throughout to win. Won a trial nicely at Grafton on July 7. Isla’s Day is down from Beaudesert. It’s a trip she has made three times before and won twice. Chocoblock has a third placing at her only track and distance run here. Hermanita has a very good strike rate; one win and six placings from nine goes.

Bet: Montana Rising to win, quinella 3, 6

RACE 6

Written Fame is a Matthew Dunn-trained son of Winning Rupert who posted two wins from seven starts and even when unplaced, he is usually thereabouts. Pertinent to note that he won his last start here albeit that was back in January but he has trialled up well for the return. Straya Pride turned in the best of his only four runs since he arrived at Daniel Bowen’s stables here at Lismore when a close second at this place last time. Bring Me To Life is one from 23 but has placed eight times. Can still win this.

Bet: Written Fame to win, Daily Double 1st (1), 2nd Leg (2)

RACE 7

Dazzling Robert was really flying late in the race when third at Grafton in a Class 1 there on Cup Day. That was 1400m, this is 1525m, so it makes sense that it would really suit now. The Owen Glue-trained gelding has a great record at Lismore, for a backmarker, of three visits for two seconds and a third. Dunzooming is one of a trio of Gold Coast housed horses that generate a fair bit of interest and respect here. The other two being Highland Hill and Embolden. As for Dunzooming, he was within a nose of a big win at Sunny Coast last time.

Bet: Dazzling Robert each-way, box trifecta 5, 6, 7, 9

RACE 8

Jewels Statement is lightly-raced and clearly talented. That much is obvious given she has a win and two seconds (in good company) from her only three starts to date. They were in January, February and March respectively. This is July of course but she looked the part winning a 940m Open Heat at Grafton last Sunday. Lots to like apart from the draw. Soyouhtink’isover was $61 into $26 when she won a Super Maiden at Grafton on July 14 at her second career start. Can he back it up? Time will tell but entirely possible. Supidoman has claims.

Bet: Jewels Statement to win
