KEMBLA INSIDE MAIL
RACE 1: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1500m)
Slick ‘N’ Quick won her maiden nicely over 1500m at Hawkesbury second-up then stepped up to a BM64 here 18 days later when a fighting neck third behind Tip Top Timing and Whatadilemma. Back to a Class 1 and will give this a real shake. Interjection raced well in his first campaign with two placings and a fourth in the Clarendon Stakes. Sat third off the fence and wore down Firm Agreement to win over 1350m at Newcastle first-up. Longinus improved with each run and was good winning at Canberra last start.
Bet: Slick ‘N’ Quick to win
RACE 2: MIDWAY HANDICAP CLASS 1 (1200m)
Photographics has finished last at both runs back from a spell but they were at Group 2 level. She was checked near the 150m and not tested to the line in the Silver Shadow first-up then worked outside the leader in the Furious Stakes. She led all the way for a smart win on debut and can get back to form here. Catch The Glory sat three-wide with cover and pushed out near the 250m to charge home and grab Just Un Clou on debut over 1000m here before sitting behind the leader when third to Hezdarnhottoo at Wyong. Suited back on the big track. Hydrometer has claims first-up.
Bet: Photographics each-way
RACE 3: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000m)
The Act copped a couple of bumps at the start before pushing up to sit outside the leader. He went to the front on straightening but just couldn’t hold out Zoum Raider and Koios, finishing a three-quarter-length third as an odds-on fav on debut. Tongue tie goes on and with the benefit of the run, can bounce back. Bremel is a debutant by Capitalist. Just pipped by Amelita in her Rosehill trial on Aug 20 before scoring a four-length all-the-way win in her Sept 5 heat. Monte Braveheart and Ausbred Mimosa have place claims.
Bet: The Act to win, Quinella 2, 5
RACE 4: BENCHMARK 64 (1000m)
Admitted led all the way on debut from Dublin Down at Bendigo last October before finishing down the track in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate. Returns as a gelding and has been good in both trials with a Hawkesbury win on Aug 26 then never off the bit when third to Need Some Luck in his Randwick heat. Nostalgia has only one win in five starts but that was at this track and distance second-up last campaign. Raced keenly when resuming at Canterbury but will take improvement from the run. Fumiko had solid form in Queensland before a change of stable. Watch betting.
Bet: Admitted to win. Quinella 3, 6
RACE 5: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300m)
Oceanfront is a first starter by Trapeze Artist from a stakes-winning granddaughter of Group 1 Flight Stakes winner Pontal Lass. Never let go when a closing second in his Scone trial on Aug 21. Asked to take an inside run when third to Tillstrom in his Rosehill heat. Imperial State was a $1.80 fav on debut here where he raced greenly when fourth to Dumebi on Aug 10. Sat just off the speed and battled away for sixth to Harry’s Bar at Canterbury. Will appreciate dropping back to the provincials. Tautou and Just Feelin’ Lucky have place claims.
Bet: Oceanfront each-way
RACE 6: SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1500m)
Great White Shark was slow away from the inside gate and settled last. Improved on straightening to get on the back of the winner El Castello and didn’t much room late to finishing just over a length away in fifth. Will find this easier. Kazotsky had trialled well before his first-up close third to Master Riley and Ramius over 1300m at Newcastle three weeks ago. The 1500m should suit. Saint Emilion closed late for third to Interjection on debut over 1350m at Newcastle.
Bet: Great White Shark to win
RACE 7: BENCHMARK 64 (1500m)
Colours Of Autumn was very wide on the bend and hit the front before being pipped right on the line by a race fit and in-form Headstock when resuming in a BM64 over 1200m here on Aug 17. Went to Newcastle 17 days later and blitzed her rivals as a $1.30 in a Class 1 over 1350m. Should love getting out to the 1500m. Stablemate Manhattan’s sat last and made ground when fifth to Watch My Girl in track record time at Warwick Farm last start. Has won over 1400m. Winning Point resumes on her home track and is a first-up winner previously.
Bet: Colours Of Autumn to win
