Herald Sun and Racenet form analyst Brad Waters looks at Thursday’s Ballarat meeting.

BEST BET

MUKTAMIL (Race 4 No.3 – $3.30)

Muktamil did a good job at his first run at 2000m at Mildura and horses often improve sharply at their second crack at the trip.

NEXT BEST

QARAAR (Race 2 No.11 – $4.60)

Qaraar led but was no match for the winner at Pakenham and that filly has gone on to run well again since. Qaraar is ready to break through.

EXABANOISE (Race 5 No.3 – $9.50)

Exabanoise will be much fitter for her solid first-up run at Seymour and should have all the favours from barrier two.

VALUE BET

UNDER THE PALAIS (Race 6 No.9 – $8)

Under The Palais won an easier race at Warrnambool last time out but is consistent and could again measure up at Ballarat.

THE JOCKEY

JOHN ALLEN

Jockey John Allen has seven rides at Thursday’s Ballarat meeting. CONTROLLED ZONE (Race 1 No. 2 – $2.90), LA ZAMPA (Race 2 No. 3 – $34), I’M EXONERATED (Race 3 No. 3 – $3.30), MUKTAMIL (Race 4 No. 3 – $3.30), RIBCRACKER (Race 5 No. 7 – $6), CRAFT STAR (Race 8 No. 6 – $10), PIA MIA (Race 9 No. 6 – $5.50).
