DUBBO

BEST BET

Race 1 No.6: Hot Gospel

Is ‘423’ in three runs for Dar Lunn, has Ash Morgan on in a winnable race.

NEXT BEST

Race 7 No.1: Pyromania

Won the and placed five times in 14 starts. Has a lot of weight but has earned it.

VALUE BET

Race 2 No.3: Rufus Winright

Very fit horse who was close up last time at Mudgee. Can figure again.

QUADDIE

Race 5: 3,6,7,12

Race 6: 2,3,7,8

Race 7: 1,2,3

Race 8: 2,3,5,7

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Ashley Morgan has plenty of opportunities to boost his season high tally of 130-plus.

QUIRINDI

BEST BET

Race 4 No.11: Perasta

Run haven’t been that bad, get the feeling he will relish the wet.

NEXT BEST

Race 2 No.12: Juhvati

Blue-blooded filly who rattled home on debut over 1200m, 1450m now.

VALUE BET

Race 6 No.5: Barrienanna

Creates a lot of interest on debut off the back on an impressive trial win.

INSIDE MAIL: DUBBO

RACE 1

Hot Gospel was a $70,000 yearling picked up by her current owner for $2250 online in April. She has raced three times for Dar Lunn and won back circa $13,000 thanks to a fourth, a second and a third. Ash Morgan riding, good draw, right race. Bledisloe is winless after eight starts but he has placed at four of them. He’s as fit as hands can make him and won’t get many better chances to convert one of those placings into a win than now.

Bet: Hot Gospel to win, exacta 6 to beat 1

RACE 2

Rufus Winright was placed here three starts ago in a 2200m Benchmark 66. Skip ahead to his July 7 run at Mudgee over 2000m, he ran fifth of six that day but was only beaten a length and a half and they raced very tight in the straight. Raiding has won four races, three of those have been here at home. In fact, half of his wins are at this track and distance. Love Rules went close to winning over this track/trip once before. Can figure.

Bet: Rufus Winright each-way, quinella 1,3

RACE 3

Full Commitment has accepted for Quirindi on Monday and drew one there. She drew 15 here but the Dubbo track will be considerably firmer than it will be at the other place so there is a bit to weigh up. High Charge is running himself into form, it is so plain to see that pretty much every one of his runs this campaign has been that little bit better than the previous. Air Combat was a kembla runner-up for his last trainer and ran quite well for Brett Robb first-up.

Bet: Full Commitment to win or if scratched High Charge to win

RACE 4

Custo has had a boom on him dating back to when he won his debut at Scone by a big margin when Stephen Jones had the son of Deep Field. Cameron Crockett does the honours now. Custo resumes in a suitably short race, blessed with barrier two and Ash Morgan. Note that he is two from two first-up. Aquarter has some very inviting stats himself, not least that he has two wins from three runs at this same course and distance. One of those was his easy win on June 30. Tim’s Principal will be the strong one late if they stop.

Bet: Custo to win, quinella 1,5

RACE 5

Wicked Testimony has the outside barrier and no jockey which suggests he might be saved for another day. This is still doable if he were to come IMHO but if he is indeed absent then all roads lead to Great Southernland who has placed at five of his 12 starts. This will be his first run for Clint Lundholm who trains at Dubbo so the horse will be familiar with the track to some degree. I’m Independent was inches off a win here back at start two, his run at the track/trip before this one.

Bet: Wicked Testimony to win or if scratched Great Southernland to win and quinella 3,7

RACE 6

Climate Control is another Dubbo and Quirindi acceptor on Monday. So far as Dubbo is concerned, he has drawn one and gets Nick Heywood on a much drier track than what he would be racing on at Quirindi and that might be the difference on the day. Midnight Dream races especially well here at home. He has done enough to warrant forgiveness for the Highway failure on a Heavy 8 behind Clear Thinking. Fantasy Crowned and Who Ever Thought are contenders.

Bet: Climate Control

RACE 7

Pyromania is Snitzel grandson of Villiers winner Palacio De Cristal. The Darby Bloodstock gelding was with Bjorn Baker for a while, his last four are for Cameron Crockett, all of them good or very good in good or very good races. Giving Delight has won two from three at Dubbo and actually beat Outsihka at his only Dubbo 1100m attempt. Starane is a Paul Clisby trained local who has won this track and distance and is inclined to land in the medals at good odds from time to time.

Bet: Pyromania to win, Starane to place

RACE 8

Dreambender, another Snitzel progeny, has a tidy little CV of seven starts for a win, two seconds and two thirds. That win was here at Dubbo two runs back while a couple of those placings were at Gosford and Hawkesbury respectively. Had excuses for the last run at Scone in the Clear Thinking race. Allay is flying this campaign, She won here on June 7 then was a neck off beating Sports Page here after that. Just on Sports Page, she is on a Dubbo hat-trick.

Bet: Dreambender to win
