Form analyst Jett Hatton gives his best bets and race-by-race analysis for Canterbury on Wednesday.

BEST BET

MAXIMUM DIVIDEND (Race 5, No.5)

Looks like a promising horse in the making for the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton stable. Liked how he kept putting more on his rivals at the back end of a mile when resuming at Wyong, suggesting that he’s only going to be better over further.

NEXT BEST

UP TO MISCHIEF (Race 3, No.3)

Has started her career off in good order, winning three of four with the only miss coming at Caulfield. Have liked from what she’s shown at the trials and barrier four with Rawiller on should spell out a positive result.

VALUE BET

KIRIBATI (Race 6, No.1)

Seems a massive price given he had no luck two back and then last time out, was only beaten by Pisanello. That horse then went down to Flemington and won the last race on Cup Week. Does carry more weight than that day but he’s got to have a decent chance at a huge price.

DRUNKEN SAILOR (Race 4, No.6)

I’ve got a good opinion of Drunken Sailor. All three runs this time in at a mile have been great. Luckless at the first, then went super at Wagga before breaking through at Queanbeyan. This is a decent step up in grade but he’s got a light weight to contend with and plenty of scope to improve at start eight.

QUADDIE

Race 4: 5, 6, 8, 10

Race 5: 2, 5

Race 6: 1, 3, 10

Race 7: 2, 4, 8

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Nash Rawiller won’t be riding in Sydney this weekend but he’s got a good book of rides before he heads across to Perth.

CANTERBURY INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE (1900m)

Devils Daughter didn’t have a whole lot of luck last time out at Hawkesbury over the 1800m. Had to change paths on a few occasions before getting out only to be run down late. Molly Bourke sticks and she’s certain to run the trip. The Beast is out of Golden Slipper placegetter Bring Me The Maid. Hit the line strongly last time out for second in what was a decent maiden race. Space Ace has run second at all of his three starts. Will be up on the pace and look the winner at some stage in the straight.

Bet: Devils Daughter each-way.

RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE (1200m)

Kris Lees sent Tasoraay up to Brisbane for his first-up run and he handled himself well, but did show that he still needs to improve some things. That’s only going to happen with more race experience and Lees has chucked the blinkers on for today’s assignment. The booking of Nash Rawiller is a big plus. Smother has a tricky barrier for his debut run but has looked the part at the trials leading into this. Raikkonen led on debut and was only run down by one horse. Should be fitter, more experienced for this.

Bet: Tasoraay to win.

RACE 3: BENCHMARK 64 (1200m)

Up To Mischief has started her career off in good order, winning three of four with the only miss coming at Caulfield. Have liked from what she’s shown at the trials and barrier four with Rawiller on should spell out a positive result. Blinkers go on Ringarosa for the first time. She’s settled a long way back at her two runs this time in but should be closer for this. Decisive Lass can run well at a price.

Bet: Up To Mischief to win.

RACE 4: BENCHMARK 68 (1550m)

I’ve got a good opinion of Drunken Sailor. All three runs this time in at a mile have been great. Luckless at the first, then went super at Wagga before breaking through at Queanbeyan. This is a decent step up in grade but he’s got a light weight to contend with and plenty of scope to improve at start eight. Miss Kim Kar is looking for her third on the bounce having won her last two by big spaces. Should have her chance from barrier two with Rachel King on and a light weight. Darling Downs has to be in the mix, along with Rotagilla.

Bet: Have something on Drunken Sailor each-way at a big price.

RACE 5: BENCHMARK 64 (1900m)

Maximum Dividend looks like a promising horse in the making for the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton stable. Liked how he kept putting more on his rivals at the back end of a mile when resuming at Wyong, suggesting that he’s only going to be better over further. Cormac T is going along in good form this preparation and should be rock hard fit and ready to go with a run over 2130m under his belt. Zac Wadick takes 3kg off and he was aboard last start. Lucky Bay can run well at an each-way quote.

Bet: Maximum Dividend to win.

RACE 6: BENCHMARK 68 (1100m)

Kiribati seems a massive price given he had no luck two back and then last time out, was only beaten by Pisanello. That horse then went down to Flemington and won the last race on Cup Week. Does carry more weight than that day but he’s got to have a decent chance at a huge price. Jambalaya was only beaten by Fleetwood and The Black Cloud at his last start before a spell. Has had three trials leading into this and looked pretty sharp at the latest.

Bet: Kiribati each-way at a huge price.

RACE 7: BENCHMARK 72 (1100m)

Accredited flies first-up. He’s won two of his three starts when resuming with the only loss coming behind a handy one in Fleetwood. Joe Pride will have him fit and ready to go with three trials in the lead up to this. Yiska is also resuming off three trials. Chalked up a well deserved win at the back end of his last campaign but all the form around him in his defeats were super. Zaragoza should make his presence felt for the Rob and Luke Price stable. Iron Will drawn tricky but comes here with a nice win streak.

Bet: Accredited and Yiska quinella.
