RANDWICK
Track: Heavy 10. Rail: Out 8m 1000m to Winning Post, Out 4m remainder
RACE 1
Overview: Jalmari hasn’t come up with a great gate but he finally gets conditions to suit and he has been crying out for a heavy track. He ran second to Straight Arron in a Carbine Club and finished one length off Brutality in an Ajax Stakes on heavy ground earlier in his career. The Dubbo-trained Deel Street has been flying on her home track and she just needs to bring that form to town now. King Of Spades next best.
Betting Advice: Jalmari to win.
RACE 2
Overview: Kote was very unlucky last start and he just needs to get through the heavy 10 conditions to be the horse to beat here. He has been well supported in early markets. Fumiko has trialled fairly but it was without the shades on and she wears the blinkers on race day. Verbek and Mayrose (luckless last start) are also sure to have admirers here.
Betting Advice: Hard to go past Kote.
RACE 3
Overview: King Frankel was dominant at his Australian debut and the step up to 2000m will be no issue here. He looks to have plenty of upside. Pink Ivory was terrific from the back last start and the step up to 2000m on a wet track suits. Navajo Peak, Pale King and Our Candidate on the next line.
Betting Advice: King Frankel and Pink Ivory look the two.
RACE 4
Overview: Willinga Beast is an easy bet to have here and she absolutely loves wet ground. She maps well and the drop back to 1200m suits as well. Best Of Bordeaux was much better last start and the 1200m suits. He missed a run two weeks back though with a mild infection and that’s never ideal. Nettuno has good wet form and also looks in the mix.
Betting Advice: Willinga Beast to win.
RACE 5
Overview: Looks a race in three between Larkspur Run, Never Talk and Heresy. All three handle the ground and have been ticking over nicely heading into this race and there’s not between them at all. Promise Of Success is a classy mare on her day and the query with her is first-up on a heavy 10. Jal Lei can also run on late.
Betting Advice: Boxed quinella 3,7,9.
RACE 6
Overview: Hard to go past Zou Tiger and he was terrific in the Golden Rose when he was able to control the pace. He stays at the same trip here and clearly looks the horse to beat. Opal Ridge was held up at a crucial stage last start and still hit the line well. The 1400m is some query and she is sixth up now into the preparation as well. Dashing Legend can improve and she profiles like she will appreciate the 1400m.
Betting Advice: Zou Tiger to win.
RACE 7
Overview: Open race. Williamsburg is on the quick back up and he gets conditions to suit again on the heavy track. The step up to 1800m should be no concern for him. Promitto has been crying out for further and he gets the chance to show that here. Sharp ‘N’ Smart was a strong first-up winner in New Zealand and has kept his fitness up to the mark with a trial since. Political Debate is smart when right and looks the next best.
Betting Advice: Leaning to Williamsburg.
RACE 8
Overview: I thought the bad luck Mr Mozart endured first-up was overplayed a touch but he does set up well second up here on wet ground. He should overcome the wide draw and just has to handle Randwick (his first run here) to go close. Startantes had no luck at all last start and she is flying this prep. Back to 1300m isn’t ideal all the same. The very promising Waterford also isn’t as well suited back in trip but will be running on late.
Betting Advice: Mr Mozart on top.
RACE 9
Overview: This race all revolves around how fit Polly Grey is first up. She is so well weighted and she is an absolute mudlark. She is clearly the horse to beat. Atishu has been jumping out of the gates better this prep and she just has to get through the conditions to run well again. Roots, Narrated and Honeycreeper on the next line.
Betting Advice: Polly Grey the one to beat.
RACE 10
Overview: Tough race to finish the day. Neverstandingstill has won three straight and she is absolutely flying in Victoria. She just has to bring that form to NSW now. Feel The Knight was terrific last start and he just needs to reproduce that now to go close again. Washington Towers was too bad to be true fresh and he is a 1000m specialist that can bounce back here.
Betting Advice: Not much between Neverstandingstill and Feel The Knight
