Jockey Winona Costin was able to do it all her own way to propel Grand Impact to his first win in more than two years at Wyong on Saturday.
Costin used a favourable draw in barrier two to easily find the front on the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr-trained gelding.
The former champion Sydney apprentice was in complete control in the lead and stacked up rivals in the Domeland Benchmark 100 Handicap (1350m).

Grand Impact had plenty in the tank late to score by three-quarters of a length in Richard and Will Freedman-trained Coastwatch ($8) with Anthony Cummings’ Strait Acer ($10) a further length-and-three-quarters away.
“He gave such a great kick,” Costin said.
“She’s a lovely horse and trained really well for him to be here today.
“I didn’t get stuck right into him. It was quite soft.
“It was great to get a ride for them and a win, it was very important for me.”
Price and Kent Jnr have opened up a Rosehill Gardens base in recent times and have become more regular players in NSW racing.

Grand Impact started this preparation in Adelaide before finishing fourth and third in two Victorian starts at Moonee Valley and Pakenham.
The son of Satono Aladdin relished the switch to the NSW way of going with an impressive display on the Central Coast.
“It was never in doubt,” stable representative Tim Suttie said.
“She jumped cleanly, stacked them up and kicked on the bend.
“Michael Kent said he was in great order so sent him up well. He’s flying.”
Grand Impact was a winner of the Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield in October, 2022 to complete a winning hat-trick at his first three starts but hadn’t won since.
The five-year-old has now won four of his 11 starts.
