THREE BEST ROUGHIES

BALKANS (Rosehill Race 5 No.8) He’s got a bit of X-factor about him this Lonhro colt. Hasn’t put a foot wrong this preparation with two good wins, the latest in near record time over 1200m at Warwick Farm. The record he got close to when running 1.09.06, is one of the longest standing track records in Sydney (tip by Clinton Payne).

SHERAZ (Flemington Race 7 No.3) He comes here third-up off the same platform he had last year. Twelve months ago he contested the Herbert Power at Caulfield and ran fifth from a wide draw. His last run in the Naturalism and they were within half a second of the track record, he again drew wide and ran home the best last 400m and 200m of the race (tip by Laurie Sainsbury).

ZOUTORI (Flemington Race 9 No.7) It might be a while between drinks with his last win being on March 2021, but it was the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap and I thought we saw enough first-up to give him a chance at the weights (tip by Laurie Sainsbury).

Soulcombe is expected to run well in the Turnbull Stakes.

THREE BEST MULTIS

Flemington Race 5 No.7 Kandinsky Abstract (place) / Flemington Race 6 No.3 Princess Grace (win) / Flemington Race 7 No.18 First Immortal (place) / Flemington Race 8 No.11 Soulcombe (place) = $15.20

Kandinsky Abstract will settle a lot closer on Saturday and be in the finish. Princess Grace looks a lock while First Immortal is airbone and should easily run top 3. Soulcombe loves Flemington and should also be fighting out the finish in the Turnbull.

Rosehill Race 5 No.5 Celestial Legend (place) / Rosehill Race 6 No.1 Encap (win) / Rosehill Race 7 No.7 Hoo Ya Mal (place) / Rosehill Race 10 No.10 Gringotts (place) = $11.05

Encap looks a lock while Celestial Legend is very progressive. Hoo Ya Mal will appreciate the step up in distance and Gringotts should fill a slot from a good gate.

Flemington Race 6 No.3 Princess Grace (win) / Flemington Race 7 No.18 First Immortal (win) / Rosehill Race 5 No.5 Celestial Legend (win) / Rosehill Race 6 No.1 Encap (win) = $50.36

These four horses will all be hard to beat. Multi all of them up to win around $50 odds.
