To raise their spirits, especially those forced to travel in economy class, the players were met by a small but vocal contingent of Honduras fans at the airport, promising to cheer them on at ANZ Stadium in Wednesday night.
Only a small pocket of away fans are expected in what the Socceroos hope will be a full house at the Olympic stadium, for what is being dubbed the most important game for the Australian side in more than a decade.

Both teams will get to check out the stadium later today, with the Socceroos desperate for a high quality surface after playing on a woefully bad pitch in San Pedro Sula.
The visitors are shooting for their third straight World Cup appearance and their fourth overall, with their debut coming at the 1982 edition in Spain.
Honduras are yet to secure a win on the sport’s biggest stage, and enter their clash against the Socceroos as rank outsiders to secure a spot in Russia next year.
