A shocking video has captured the moment football fans clashed during Sydney FC’s win over Central Coast on Sunday.
The ugly incident has overshadowed Sydney FC’s thrilling penalty shootout win over the Mariners at Leichhardt Stadium in their Australia Cup round of 32 game.
Video shows fans outside the stadium nearly came to blows as flares, traffic barriers and rocks were thrown.
Veteran football journalist Ray Gatt shared the video on Twitter and said the fans were not supporting the Mariners.
A former reporter for The Australian, Gatt described those involved as “idiots” and “morons”.
NRL journalist Brad Walter posted on Twitter that those involved should not call themselves fans.
