Nigel Pearson charged over rant at fan during Leicester’s defeat to Liverpool

LEICESTER manager Nigel Pearson was charged by the Football Association after his foul-mouthed rant at a fan during his side’s recent defeat against Liverpool.

LEICESTER manager Nigel Pearson has been charged by the Football Association after his foul-mouthed rant at a fan during his side’s recent defeat against Liverpool.

Pearson became embroiled in a row with the supporter as struggling Leicester slumped to a 3-1 loss at the King Power Stadium on December 2.

Video later emerging of the incident which appeared to show Pearson mouthing “f**k off and die” at the supporter.

Nigel Pearson has been charged by the FA.

The FA had written to Pearson to ask for his observations about the argument and has now acted.

It is alleged the Foxes boss used abusive and/or insulting words towards a spectator.

Pearson, who has refused to apologise for the incident because he is unhappy with the abuse he claims to have taken from the supporter, has until 1800 GMT on December 16 to respond to the charge.

Speaking prior to the charge being announced, Pearson, whose side is bottom of the Premier League and without a win in 10 games, said: “My observations are my observations. I’m not going to waste my energy with those sorts of matters in all honesty.

“I think last week I said as much as I want to say on that subject and regardless on what happens here on in I won’t be saying too much more on it now.

“When things like that happen it’s not something I particularly think is constructive on any level. Things happen and that’s where we are at.

“My focus is on this next game and we welcome the champions. It’s a game we will need to be at our best, if not better.”
