NUMBER ONE: Matildas waltzing to world domination

Almost a decade after she retired with 151 caps, Salisbury was honoured at the event in her home town of Newcastle, just 48 hours before the current generation of Matildas play Brazil there.

“I’m very proud to be the first female to win the award and to receive it in my home town with my family and friends with me was a privilege,” Salisbury said.
