Sydney FC striker Adam Le Fondre has perfected his goal celebration to the letter and there’s four special people in his life to thank for the inspiration – the “A-team”.

The Sky Blues forward aims to add to his tally of 11 (in just 12 games) when the Sky Blues entertain Adelaide United on Sunday at Jubilee Stadium (6pm).

Should the net bulge again, home fans can expect to see the English import wheel away with his hands forming the letter ‘A’ in a sign to the rest of the Le Fondre clan.

Tim Cahill’s goals had corner flags quaking, Cameroon’s Roger Milla liked a wiggle, while Peter Crouch showed off his inner robot. But for the man known as Alfie, it’s a simple gesture of thanks.

“The goal celebration is for our family, we’re the A-Team,” Le Fondre told The Saturday Telegraph.

“Our family are all A’s. You’ve got myself Adam, Amy is my wife and my three beautiful daughters are Amelia, Ariana and Aubree.

“The goal celebration is for all of us whenever I score. I don’t do that particular celebration each time, but I will always do something secret for them when I score.

“It’s just my little way of saying thank you to them for their love and support in helping me follow my career and doing what I love.”

The former Bolton Wanderers and Reading forward was on target again in midweek but it was a mere consolation as Steve Corica’s side crashed to a costly 3-1 defeat against Perth Glory – a result which sees them now six points adrift of the leaders.

Next up it’s Adelaide and time for a spot of revenge.

Le Fondre opened his Sydney FC account in the round one clash with the Reds at Coopers Stadium that ended in a 1-1 draw.

He was on target when the teams met in the FFA Cup final at the same venue but a double from Craig Goodwin meant his 28th minute opener was ultimately in vain as the South Australian outfit claimed the season’s first silverware.

But this time the Sky Blues will enjoy home advantage as they host Marco Kurz’s men – the visitors also on a high after a midweek win over Melbourne Victory.

Le Fondre, who created A-League history by reaching double figures in just 11 games, is now chasing the record of former Sydney FC striker Bobo, who bagged 27 goals in his final season with the club.

The striker is adamant he’s not paying too much attention to the race for the Golden Boot but did joke after training yesterday that he was striving to keep Brisbane Roar’s Adam Taggart at bay (the Roar striker is currently two behind with nine).

And while Sydney FC fans are delighted with his contribution, the fans Le Fondre left behind in the UK have also noted his goalscoring form.

“Come home,” was the simple two-word plea to Le Fondre’s from an unhappy Bolton Wanderers fan on social media but Sydney FC goal machine Le Fondre swiftly killed any hope of that with his response through Twitter.

Wanderers are enduring a miserable time in the English tier – with problems on and off the field – but the Sydney striker won’t be answering their cry for help.

“I’ve got too much to try and accomplish here,” was the reply in an ominous warning to A-League defenders.
