Late surge strikes Terriers

SYDNEY FC’S home clash with Melbourne City will go ahead as planned despite the rain that has poured down on Leichhardt Oval all day.

A decision that the surface is playable was be made by the A-League’s match commissioner shortly after a pitch inspection with the referee and officials from both clubs.

Though the rain is due to abate mid-afternoon, more is forecast before the planned 7pm kick off time.

Earlier it had been feared the torrential downpour would see the match postponed with one option to play it next weekend, with the A-League breaking for the international window but the Socceroos not playing.
