A fired up Brock Jarvis has clapped back at the haters following his split with Jeff Fenech, while enlisting the services of another former world champion ahead of the biggest fight of his life.

Thurman's warning to Jarvis

A fired up Brock Jarvis has clapped back at the haters following his split with Jeff Fenech, while enlisting the services of another former world champion as he prepares for the biggest fight of his life.

This masthead can reveal Jarvis has spent part of his training camp with Billy Dib following the messy split with Fenech ahead of his March 12 pay-per-view fight with Keith Thurman.

Jarvis says the drama hasn’t dented his focus, and even made a bold knockout prediction for the Hordern Pavilion fight.

“I don’t give a f**k what people say about me,” Jarvis said. “This is an opportunity of a lifetime.

“I said I was going to stop Thurman in five, but I might do it in two rounds because of all the crap he’s been talking.

“I’m going for his head. I’m not worried about his body – I’m aiming straight for the head.”

Jarvis insists talk of him pulling out of the fight is completely false, and has instead enlisted the help of former IBF featherweight world champion Dib.

“I’ve just been doing a bit of pad work with him, just trying to keep him sharp,” Dib said. “I don’t know who his trainer is, but I just said to him, as a friend, I’d be happy to help him out.”

Dib and Jarvis trained together under Fenech when ‘Billy the Kid’ fought Tevin Farmer for the IBF super-featherweight world title in 2018.

Although he lost that fight by unanimous decision, Dib said the training camp had him in the best shape of his life.

Jarvis was still a scrawny 20-year-old super-bantamweight back then, but Dib has kept a close eye on his progress ever since, and says he’s in too good a shape to pull out.

“I don’t want people to turn their back on Brock,” he said. “I said to him, ‘This is your opportunity to right the wrongs’.

“There’s no way he’s pulling out. He said to me, ‘F**k the critics, there’s no way I’m pulling out of this fight’.”

Jarvis has sparred Dib’s fighter, the super-talented Mounir Fathi as he looks to overcome long odds and cause another Aussie boxing upset against a man who has only ever lost to Manny Pacquiao.

“Mate, he (Fathi), is unreal, he’s been great for me,” Jarvis said of the sparring. “He’s a great fighter and he’s helped me out a lot.

“He’s got all the talent in the world, and he’s an unreal fighter – I’d like to see more of him myself.

“He’s powerful, I can tell you that much. I’ve also been getting good rounds in with Alex Grippa and Sergei Vorobiev.”

Jarvis is a $3.80 outsider, but Thurman has been plagued by injury and hasn’t fought in over three years.

It will be the difference, Dib said.

“If Thurman was active, I’d say it’s a massive ask, but the fact that he’s been inactive for so many years and is coming off a lot of injuries, I just feel like this is the time for Brock,” he said.

“If you’re going to get him, this is the time.

“There’s a chance he could definitely hurt Keith with a body shot – Keith is very susceptible to body shots. He doesn’t take them very well.”
