Denver Broncos fan drops $30,000 on Super Bowl tickets

THIS Broncos fan spent a ridiculous amount of cash on Super Bowl tickets — but that’s nothing compared to what he’ll pay when he gets home.

FOR some diehard NFL fans, you truly cannot put a price on seeing your team play in the Super Bowl. Even if it means spending your foreseeable future sleeping on the couch.

And that is exactly where one Denver Broncos fan will likely find himself when his wife gets wind of the incredible amount of money he laid out to secure himself a seat in Levi’s Stadium for the historic Super Bowl 50 on Monday.

Speaking with NBC, Denver fan Justin Kerrigan revealed he had already spent a whopping US$21,000 (AUD $30,000) on four tickets to the game, and planned to fork out as much as US$30,000 (AUD $42,000) across the entire event.

When the reporter realised Kerrigan was implying he had spent in the tens of thousands for tickets rather than “21 hundred dollars”, his shocked response was priceless.

Kerrigan asked the reporter not to tell his wife that he had just spent a significant amount of their savings on a football game. Maybe next time you should tell her yourself before you agree to be on national television.

Read the full transcript of the interview below.

JUSTIN: Well I spent $21,000 on the tickets.

REPORTER: $21,000?! I thought you were talking $2,100.

JUSTIN: Don’t tell my wife.

REPORTER: Are you joking right now?

JUSTIN: No, No.

REPORTER: Why?

JUSTIN: Well for four tickets. For the four of us. It’s got the Broncos tail-gate package — all that jazz.

REPORTER: What if you guys lose?

JUSTIN: We’re not going to.

REPORTER: What if you do?

JUSTIN: We won’t.

For his sake, Kerrigan will be praying that he is right. Coming out of the match with the Vince Lombardi Trophy will be a small consolation, because he will be paying for it for a very, very long time.

The Denver Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium on Monday, and is scheduled to kick off at 10:30am AEDT.

The Broncos finished the regular season with a win-loss record of 12-4, while the Cam Newton-led Panthers suffered just one loss to finish 15-1.
