David Warner’s hospital dash from Lord’s to hospital for baby’s birth

David Warner has rushed from Lord’s cricket ground to a London hospital where his wife Candice is expected to give birth to their third child within hours.

David Warner rushed to be with his wife Candice who is expected to give birth to their third child shortly.

The opening batsman left in a hurry after Australia defeated New Zealand at Lord’s in London overnight.

Mitchell Starc, the hero of the match with five wickets, said Warner was looking forward to being a dad again.

“He packed his bag pretty quickly, I think he’s up there up there enjoying the win and tomorrow (Sunday) he will be a dad for a third time,” he said after the match.

“Good luck to the Warners, I’ll be seeing him up in Manchester, we all have a couple of days off.

“We do travel tomorrow and then we do have a couple of days away from cricket and its going to be fantastic for everyone to freshen up.”

Candice Warner is set to give birth to the couple’s third daughter.

Warner’s wife Candice was due to be induced on Sunday in an unusual move to make sure her husband could be there for the birth.

Australia has a break before playing South Africa in Manchester on July 6.

Most births were not induced on a weekend in the UK, and there was no hospital confirmed late last week.

The Warners have two girls, Indie and Ivy, and they have told The Daily Telegraph that they were expecting another girl.

Off spinner Nathan Lyon also wished the Warners good luck for the birth but when asked if he had given suggestions for names he replied: “I don’t think it will be Garry.

“Yeah, all the best for Candice and David.”

Candice, a former Ironwoman, said earlier in the year that she was looking forward to the birth.

“Like with my last two pregnancies I haven’t had any morning sickness, it’s all going really well and the girls are really excited,” she said.

“They just don’t understand why it’s taking so long and they keep asking me when the baby is coming.”

The family has relocated to London for the birth, while Warner plays in the World Cup and the upcoming Ashes series.
