Mark Craig put up some stubborn resistance while fellow tailender Tim Southee provided plenty of entertainment with his 48 off just 23 balls, an innings that featured three sixes before he was the ninth wicket to fall in the innings and the fourth taken by the spin of Nathan Lyon.
A short while earlier Doug Bracewell was trapped lbw by Josh Hazlewood.
Prior to lunch Mitch Marsh, Jackson Bird and Lyon took a wicket each as the Kiwis slid towards a big defeat.
Peter Siddle didn’t bowl after coming down with back spasms on Sunday.
The results means Australia secures the Trans-Tasman Trophy after winning last year’s series 2-0.
