FOX Sports is making a huge play to win the TV rights for all forms of Australian cricket in a move that is expected to bump the game’s broadcasting fees past the $1 billion mark for the first time.
CEO Patrick Delany told The Sunday Telegraph the pay-television network wanted the lot — local and international Test matches, one-dayers and the Big Bash.

The pitch is similar to their rugby league and AFL deals where major games are simulcast with free-to-air networks but others are shown exclusively. Cricket Australia hopes to finalise a $200 million a year deal for five seasons by April.
The Big Bash rights are expected to increase from $20 million a year to about $50m, such is the enormous popularity of the tournament. Long-time Test match broadcasters Channel Nine now wants the Big Bash as well.
