DAVID Warner has been caught on camera calling South African nemesis Quinton de Kock a “f***ing sook” during a tirade that directly preceded their tunnel fracas in the first Test.
Unseen footage has emerged of the Australian vice-captain ripping into de Kock as they left the field of play, having reportedly unleashed an hour-long sledging attack on the Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman.
Warner was recorded saying: “You f***ing sook. Have a look at you, you sook.” WATCH BELOW
According to the Australians, de Kock later made an “unacceptable” comment about Warner’s wife Candice as they walked through the players’ tunnel - sparking an ugly fracas that has already been exposed in video footage. WATCH BELOW
It has been claimed that Warner called de Kock a “bush pig” during play and also made remarks about his rival’s mother and sister.
Both Warner and de Kock have been charged over the incident. Warner should be free to play the second Test, though will be on the brink of suspension if he errs again.
The new footage was first aired on FOX Sports program The Back Page Live. Panellist and veteran News Corp cricket writer Robert Craddock said the footage needed to be shown, as it showed Warner’s true nature on the cricket field.
“Because that’s a key to everything - he [Warner] grinds and grinds away at players and eventually they crack,” Craddock said.
“Quinton de Kock is a really simple lad, basic. He doesn’t go looking for trouble but if you stir him up, you might just get a bit. That was so revealing.”
Neither Warner or de Kock have commented on the blow-up.
Australian wicketkeeper Tim Paine on Wednesday claimed that de Kock had crossed the line by making a comment about Warner’s wife. He insisted South African claims that Warner had sledged de Kock’s family were “blatantly untrue”.
He also declared Warner was not, as he sometimes stands accused, a player who could dish out sledging but not take it.
“As I went past de Kock he said what he said and luckily I suppose I was there in between,” Paine said.
“When you are bringing people’s families or wives into it, it’s unacceptable.
“He (Warner) was certainly extremely fired up and he had every right to be.
“I have never seen him react like he reacted ... he is not the sort of bloke who will whinge about being sledged.
“At no stage was Quinton’s family mentioned, that’s 100 per cent false.
“I don’t know how their team manager [Mohammed Moosajee, who made the claims] can hear from where he’s sitting.
“It’s extremely disappointing ... they’ve come out now and said a few things that are just blatantly untrue.”
