David Warner struggles in second Sydney grade cricket outing as Steve Smith shines in the field

DAVID Warner followed up his Sydney grade cricket century with a single-figure score as little-known University of NSW bowler Hayden McLean snuck one through the former Aussie vice captain.

David Warner failed to fire in his second game with Randwick-Petersham.

DAVID Warner’s second outing in grade cricket proved much less fruitful with the former Test batsman bowled for just two.

Warner made an emotional century in his opening game last week for Randwick-Petersham against a bowling attack which included Test pacemen Josh Hazlewood and Trent Copeland.

But little-known University of NSW bowler Hayden McLean bowled Warner for just two off seven balls.

Randwick-Petersham had to face seven overs before stumps having dismissed University of NSW for 279 with Warner claiming a wicket and taking two catches at Coogee Oval in a two-day match. He finished with 1-8 off two overs.

Steve Smith turned the arm over again but went wicketless.

Warner’s former Test skipper Steve Smith saw barely any action for Sutherland against Manly-Warringah at Glenn McGrath Oval.

Smith took three catches but was unable to claim a wicket from his three overs as Manly-Warringah posted 348.

He did not bat with Sutherland 0-0 from two overs. Smith will be the next batsman in when play resumes on Saturday.
