Cameron Bancroft weighing up whether or not to appeal ban after ball tampering scandal

CAMERON Bancroft is yet to formalise his decision on appealing his ban but is favoured to take his medicine. Meanwhile, the stunt pulled by the Kyle & Jackie O at Steve Smith’s presser has cost the station in a big way.

CAMERON Bancroft has not decided whether to accept his nine-month suspension for ball tampering - but is favoured to take his medicine.

And the Herald Sun can reveal that Cricket Australia has pulled all advertising with Australian Radio Network after the stunt pulled by the Kyle & Jackie O show at Steve Smith’s emotional airport press conference.

Bancroft, former captain Steve Smith and former and vice-captain David Warner are yet to formalise their decisions.

There have been reports Bancroft was set to appeal but sources close to the young opener suggested he was yet to seriously consider that option.

Cricket Australia confirmed the disgraced trio has until Thursday to decide.

“The players were given seven days to decide whether to accept their proposed sanctions or appeal,” a spokesman said.

Smith, Warner and Bancroft are receiving legal advice and at least one key influence has urged them all to appeal.

Bancroft, 25, was given a lesser sentence and would be eligible to return next summer.

While he has lost a county cricket contract with Somerset, Bancroft could still join another English club for the winter.

“I have received the paper work for my sanction and I will respect the process that will come with that,” Bancroft said.

“I will work with my manager and we will move forward with that.”
