Mike Hussey reveals his SuperCoach BBL team for BBL15
Play the BBL fixture or pay up for the biggest superstars in the game? Aussie champ and SuperCoach gun Mike Hussey has the best of both worlds. SEE HIS TEAM
SuperCoach BBL is always a delicate balance between picking the big guns and players with a double-game round.
Conventional wisdom says to pick players on the double – two chances are better than one, right?
But does that apply when the players we’re talking about are Glenn Maxwell, Matt Short, Jamie Overton and Cooper Connolly?
Maxwell, Short and Overton averaged more than anyone else who played more than five games in BBL14, and are capable of outscoring players on a double even if they only play once.

The value on offer from the SuperCoach price Gods this year has allowed me to find a balance between players who feature twice in round 1 and the big four of SuperCoach BBL.
Every round you don’t have Maxwell, in particular, is one where you risk him producing a matchwinning performance that results in a triple-figure SuperCoach score.
Starting with Maxwell also means I will have trades up my sleeve to play with in round 3 when the Stars play twice and other coaches will be moving heaven and earth to bring him in.
My batter in my side who I am sure leaps off the page is Jordan Silk, who is a phenomenal T20 cricketer but has never been a top SuperCoach scorer, owing mostly to his role as a middle-order player.
I see Silk as a cheapie who has a base of about 20 points because he fields in all the key positions batters target. Two catches a game, plus whatever runs he scores, and Silk could be a great SuperCoach cash cow.
He’s such a brilliant fielder and one of Australia’s best middle-order T20 batters. In fact, it surprises me Silk is yet to play a T20 international.
Aaron Hardie is this year’s no-brainer pick at a crazy price for a player of his quality.
I was worried about his form a few months ago but he has been bowling more and scoring runs in recent matches for Western Australia.
One of the main decisions SuperCoaches need to make for round 1 is between three quality wicketkeeping options who play twice – Matthew Wade, Ben McDermott and Josh Philippe.
I’m a big fan of Philippe, but have gone with Wade’s experience because Hobart plays five games in the first three rounds.
Wade only needs to show the quality we all know he has a couple of times in those five matches to justify starting him at less than $100k.
The main thing I’ve still got to do before the start of BBL15 is study up on the fixture. I feel like I am a few players short for round 2 in particular, when the Heat and Thunder play twice.
But one thing is certain. With Maxwell, Short and Overton, I am definitely not short on matchwinners and premium SuperCoach talent.
