‘Deadset junk’: Australian tactics torn to shreds as India dominate

Australia have come under heavy fire from cricket fans following a nightmare day of play during the opening Test in Perth.

India are in complete control of the opening Test after a dominant day inside Perth Stadium on Sunday.

Australia entered the third day of play with their backs already against the wall as India amplified the pressure.

Centuries to opener Yashavi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli have the visitors within reach of victory as Australia’s questionable tactics came under heavy fire.

As the first Test began to slip out of their grasp, Pat Cummins threw the ball to Marnus Labuschange in a move that didn’t go down well with Australian fans.

After blowing the lead out well beyond the 500-run mark, India ensured the Australia nightmare was made even worse after claiming three wickets in a devastating final half an hour of play.

With only seven wickets left in hand, Australia need a miraculous 522 runs or to bat out the final two days if they’re to stop India from going up 1-0 in the series.

Australia’s lacklustre finish to the day saw them come under heavy fire from cricket greats Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan.

“Have you ever seen such a despondent team of Australian cricketers, resorting to those tactics? What are deemed negative, illegal tactics really by the rulebook?” Gilchrist questioned.

The Australian tactics on day three came under heavy fire.

“I’ve not seen that. I’m looking at this Australian side, they’re a terrific side, and for whatever reason they bowl out India for 150, then only bat well enough to only get 104, and then with the ball in hand they had periods where they bowled nicely but that last half an hour is something I’ve not seen in Australia,” Vaughan added.

“Every boundary rider was on the fence, Labuschagne’s bowling around the wicket, he’s bowling negatively.”
