BRISBANE coach Wayne Bennett will replace skipper Darius Boyd with Kiwi Test utility Jordan Kahu at fullback for Saturday night’s crucial NRL clash against the Raiders in Canberra.

The Broncos were on Thursday rocked by the news Boyd, their inspirational skipper, would miss six weeks with a broken thumb — also ruling him out of the Origin decider on July 12. Bennett was hoping Boyd would back up from Origin II but was forced to use the captain’s run at Red Hill on Friday to test Kahu in the No. 1 spot for the showdown with the Green Machine at GIO Stadium. NRMA Insurance promo Benji Marshall will remain in the halves with Kodi Nikorima, while axed halfback Ben Hunt has will start from the bench. David Mead has been recalled for the Raiders clash to play on the right wing. The Broncos are clinging to fourth spot but face a desperate Raiders side who are struggling in 10th and need victory to stay in touch with the top eight. Pacquiao vs. Horn promo Brisbane’s other Origin stars Matt Gillett and Josh McGuire are expected to back up. Chief rugby league writer Peter Badel was at Red Hill to catch all the latest news, injury reports and expert analysis.
