Jake Paul has apparently announced his next fight and it’s left the boxing world all saying the same thing.
The 28-year-old, who set aside a lucrative YouTube career to attempt to establish himself in the ring in 2018, last fought 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November in a fight that was largely panned around the world.
UFC 312: Du Plessis v Strickland 2 | SUN 9 FEB | UFC middleweight king Dricus du Plessis is headed back Down Under for yet another title defence, in a blockbuster UFC 312 headliner in Sydney. | Order Now with Main Event on Kayo Sports.
But it seems Paul is asking the collective fight world to hold his beer.
The cruiserweight has taken to social media to tease a looming fight against his brother Logan, a part-time wrestler and the man behind a wildly successful beverage company.
“The moment you’ve waited a decade for… March 27th,” Jake Paul captioned a post on X along with an image of the two brothers staring each other down.
Logan, 29, repeated the exact same post and both instantly generated plenty of interest.
There is some speculation the posts are for a reality TV series, rather than a bout, but either way the announcement brought a predictable response from many.
Jake Paul has an 11-1 record in the ring, against an array of opponents that have included an ex-NBA basketballer and a bunch of washed up UFC fighters.
Logan only has two professional bouts on his record, a loss against his fellow drink entrepreneur KSI and a victory over retired MMA fighter Dillon Danis.
Many of the comments on X used a similar theme.
One wrote: “Nobody waited for this.”
Another wrote: “I’d rather keep waiting.”
A third stated: “So stupid. Cash grab. As if you guys would go and KO one another or hurt one another.”
A fight fan asked: “Are you guys gonna actually hit each other or just dance around the ring?”
Another declared: “Absolutely no one has been waiting for this.”
Another doubled down on the same theme, posting: “I speak for everyone when I say NO ONE waited a single second for this cringefest.”
A few did seem to be taking the fight somewhat seriously, with one writing: “Easy dub for Jake, gonna wipe the canvas with Logan.”
One person tweeted: “My bet is on you Jake.”
Another added: “Damn, brother vs brother show down.”
More information will come to light in the days and weeks to come.
So watch this space. Or don’t.
