Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather has allegedly rejected a young fan’s request for a photo with him because he had painted nails.

The incident occurred following the NBA game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday (AEDT), which the Grizzlies won 120-114.

Mayweather was sitting courtside at the Staples Center in Los Angeles alongside his ex-girlfriend Gallienne Nabila.

Once the game had finished, the fan went down on to the court in an attempt to get a selfie with the 44-year-old.

But when he approached Mayweather and asked to have a photo with him, the retired boxing champ shut him down straight away after spotting his nails, which were painted black.

“You got painted nails, I don’t take pictures with guys with no painted nails,” Mayweather was heard saying to the young male fan in a video obtained by TMZ Sports.

His bodyguard then quickly told the fan to back off as Mayweather made his way out of the arena.

The fan complied with the order but was heard yelling “Floyd’s a homophobe” in Mayweather’s direction and was clearly upset by how the situation was handled.

“Floyd doesn’t want to take a picture with me because my nails are painted,” he said in the video.

“Bruh, really?!

“I didn’t mean to rush him like that.”

However, a representative for Mayweather told TMZ the reason he didn’t agree to take the photo was because he was in a rush to leave the game.

Witnesses told TMZ Mayweather had no issues posing for photos with other people attending the basketball game and was spotted smiling with another fan on the court.

Fans were less than impressed with Mayweather’s behaviour.

Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an undefeated 50-0 and last competed in an exhibition fight against Logan Paul in June.

In 2017, he publicly declared his support for Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who is widely viewed as an anti-gay dictator and has reportedly said gay people don’t exist in his country.
