SuperCoach NBL 2025: Quick guide to season schedule, and what it means for your fantasy team

Getting a big score in SuperCoach NBL can be as easy as looking at the schedule. Here’s a quick guide on how to use it to your advantage – and the players to pick in your team.

The more often you play, the more opportunities you have to score SuperCoach points.

Sounds like an easy way to improve your fantasy scores every week – and it is.

A key feature of the NBL schedule is that in most rounds two or more teams will play twice. Fill your team with players from those double-game teams and keep single game players to a minimum (while avoiding players with a bye altogether) and you have a simple strategy for SuperCoach NBL success.

Here’s a quick guide on how to use the schedule to your advantage this season.

STARTING PICKS

In the opening round every team plays once in the inaugural HoopsFest, so there is no immediate advantage to be gained by adding multiple players to your roster from any one NBL franchise.

But coaches who think ahead will soon be rewarded. In round 2 four teams – Melbourne United, Illawarra Hawks, South-East Melbourne Phoenix and the Sydney Kings – all play twice.

Look for United, Hawks, Phoenix and Kings players to select in your starting squad. They can be topped up with trades to get a full roster of five double game players on court in round 2. One of them will be your captain who scores double points – effectively four matches’ worth of SuperCoach points in one weekend. How good is that?

WHO HAS THE BEST EARLY SCHEDULE?

You can get an even bigger edge by looking further ahead than round 2 when planning your trades.

United is the team to target early since they have another double in round 3. Put players like Chris Goulding, Shea Ili, Marcus Lee and Jack White high on your watch list.

The Jackjumpers, 36ers, Taipans and Wildcats also have a double in round 3 – prioritise players from the Taipans and 36ers who have another double the following round.

The team to avoid early is the New Zealand Breakers, who have a bye in rounds 4 and 5, when they fly to the US to take part in NBA pre-season games against the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder. If you’re starting Parker Jackson-Cartwright have a plan to trade him out after round 1 to bring in a star on the double.

The Brisbane Bullets are another team to treat with caution – they don’t have a double-game round until round 9. The Kings, on the other hand, have four doubles in the first seven rounds. Jaylen Adams, Xavier Cooks and Cameron Oliver will be hot property early.

The Wildcats have only one double in the first six rounds – but can you leave out Bryce Cotton?

PRICE CHANGES

Double game rounds also come into play when it comes to player prices. Every player’s value is calculated on a three-round average, so players from teams that feature three times in the opening two rounds will get their first price change a week before the rest of the competition – something to keep in mind when trying to get maximum value out of your squad.
