The Adelaide 36ers have re-signed NBA hopeful and star centre Isaac Humphries on a one-year deal in a big boost to the club’s championship aspirations.

One of the NBL’s most accomplished big men, Humphries averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots across 19 games for the 36ers last season, before his campaign was shortened due to injury.

The 23-year-old winner of Adelaide’s Coaches Choice Award still has NBA aspirations, but his immediate future remains with the 36ers.

“I am really looking forward to another season with the Adelaide 36ers and coming back to Adelaide,” said Humphries, who played five NBA games for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018-2019 season.

“I am excited to see the team form under coach Conner Henry and to play alongside some great new signings.”

36ers coach Conner Henry is happy to see Humphries return and play alongside key signings like championship-winning Melbourne United guard Mitch McCarron.

“He (Isaac) continues to put in the work to get himself physically ready,” Henry said.

“His work ethic and commitment to the team has us all very excited for the coming season.”

36ers General Manager of Basketball Jeff Van Groningen is equally excited to secure Humphries for at least another season.

“Isaac is a guy who brings so much to the club – first and foremost he is a great person,” Van Groningen said.

“We saw last season that he was one of the league’s best players for the first half of the campaign, so I can’t wait to see him back on court.”

The NBL22 season is scheduled to commence in October with the Adelaide 36ers to start pre-season training at Adelaide 36ers Arena (formerly Titanium Security Arena) in September.
