FIRST-class centurion Jason Sangha and the sons of cricket royalty Steve Waugh and James Sutherland will represent Australia at the under-19 World Cup.
Sangha was named captain of the 15-man squad selected on Friday to contest the January-February tournament in New Zealand.
The 18-year-old scored 133 against an England side boasting Test bowler Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes for the Cricket Australia XI in a tour match last month.
His deputy will be paceman Will Sutherland, son of CA chief James, who showed promise for Victoria in the one-day domestic competition.
Sutherland turned his back on an AFL career last month despite being touted as a potential top-10 draft pick after playing for Vic Metro at the under-18 national championships.
The paceman made his debut for Victoria in this year’s JLT Cup, taking 4/11 against NSW.
Batsman Austin Waugh’s selection sees him follow in the footsteps of ex-Australian Test skipper Steve.
Austin made his Sydney first-grade debut as a 17-year-old this year.
Australia will be coached by retired paceman Ryan Harris, with former Test batsman Chris Rogers as his assistant.
